Stay the night

Coco was utterly shocked that the woman she wanted to befriend turned out to be the fourth wife! She felt her soul leaving her body after processing the information.

Too shaken at what she found out, she stood there, dumbfounded. Lala flew in front of her face and waved her hand to snap her human friend out of her shock.

It was futile though, but she didn't give up and continued calling out to her, "Coco! Hello? Coco! Cooocoo!"

Zaque kept smiling as he watched the fairy wake Coco from her daydreaming. She didn't show any sign of moving so he had to drag her inside of the house and left her in the dining table— to let her deal with her own unresponsive state.

"I wonder what happened." Zaque stated as he observed Coco's soulless feature— just staring into a distance.

Quizen didn't say anything, but sat down in front of Coco. Zaque gave him a cup of water and he gladly drank the water to moisten his vocal chords. As he was drinking, he noticed the fairy flying in front of his wife's face, looking worried and saying something.

He couldn't help, but choke on his drink. Midnight black eyes wide as he stare at the fairy, thinking if his eyes are playing tricks on him? Is that an actual fairy? Being concerned about his wife on top of that?

"Such a rare sight, isn't it?" Zaque asked after watching Quizen's reaction, "I was shocked the other day, too. I didn't know Coco would bring home a small and adorable creature that we read from books."

"Yes.. Fascinating." Quizen could only agree, watching the fairy fuss over Coco.

The two of them snapped their attention back to their wife when Coco flinched back into reality. She was heaving deep breaths as if she just got back from the deepest depth of the ocean.

"Ack! I'm sorry for the trouble!" She apologised immediately when she realized that she's already home, "I only wanted to stop by to drop the fruits— Gasp! Speaking of which! Where are the fruits?! I swear I was just carrying them a while ago!"

Zaque couldn't stop the snort that left his mouth at how funny Coco looks. She was frantically looking around and sweating buckets as if she lost a national treasure.

Back in the past, Zaque could only witness his wife's drunk antics and hear her drunk blabbering so seeing Coco panic like that.. He couldn't help, but laugh.

"They're at the kitchen counter. I placed them there because you dropped the basket earlier." Zaque said after holding back his laugh and cleared his throat, "Why bring home the fruits though? It's better to sell them so we can have money to pay your debt."

"Where did you get the fruits in the first place?" Quizen inquired with a straight face, "We're already paying the debts you have by gambling and drinking—" He stopped talking when Zaque placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

"I get that I have a lot of debts to pay, but that doesn't mean I won't give you guys something healthy and nutritious to eat." Coco said as she scratched the back of her head awkwardly, "I've already sold enough earlier. I'm actually planning to give it to you, Zaque. Add it to your weekly budget and give the others their fair share of allowance."

Coco bought out the pouch and placed it on the table gently, not wanting to be mistaken as mad.

"Hey! You can't take Coco's money every time she sell the fruits! She need to buy things for herself, too! Just because she gave you the money doesn't mean you could take everything!" Lala screamed at Zaque, upset that Coco can't buy whatever she wants.

Zaque was about to get the pouch, but he retracted his hand when the fairy stopped him. Pointing fingers and glaring at him, he can't understand anything she says though because all he can hear is a bell, ringing loudly and continuously.

"Lala, it's okay." Coco spoke which made the husbands and fairy look at her, "I'm the one who gave it to them, we can still earn money tomorrow, you know?"

"But I grew the fruits for you!" Lala whimpered and her head dropping down as she look at Coco, "I don't want you to give the money to anyone else.. You need to buy yourself something, too. You already gave them the money you earned the other day."

"I know." Coco smiled softly, "Again, it's okay. I need to help them, remember? I can treat myself later, don't worry."

Zaque and Quizen exchanged a glance. All they can hear is bell ringing, but it seems like their wife can understand the little creature. The fairy turned to Zaque, her chubby cheeks and red eyes glaring at him.

Coco let out a sigh and nodded her head at them as she stood up from her seat, "I'll be taking my leave. Make sure to eat the fruits, okay? You guys look frail enough as is. I'm sure it will provide vitamins that you need in your body."

She walked over to the door and was about to open the front it, but stopped when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Spend the night here." Zaque said, the smile on his face looks more genuine than the other smiles he gave her which made him sketchy in Coco's eyes.

"No!" Lala immediately cut off and smacked Zaque's hand that is resting on Coco's shoulder, "For all I know, you'll seduce her!"

"Oh my god, Lala." Coco sighed out, feeling her cheeks get warm at what the fairy said, "Don't think bad about them, okay? That's not nice. They wouldn't do any of that."

"What did miss fairy said?" Zaque asked, pulling his hand away because Lala kept smacking him.

"None of your business!" Lala answered him, poking her tongue out at him and hugged Coco's cheek in a protective manner, "Get away from Coco! You are evil!"

"Lala!" Coco exclaimed, a shocked look on her face as she gasped, "Take that back! That's not nice!"

"Well? What is the fairy saying?" Quizen was the one who asked this time, "All I can hear is a damn bell ringing. It's starting to get annoying and get on my nerves."

"She said nothing." Coco forced a smile, laughing awkwardly as she walk away from the door to go to the stairs.

"I'll call it a night! Good night!" She exclaimed and ran up the stairs. She decided to stay in Coco Hughes's room and locked the door so no one would try to get in.

"You should have said everything I said to them, they deserve to know." Lala said with her head held high.

Coco could only let out a tired sigh, not expecting for Lala to have an attitude.
