Out to the mountain

The night passed by without a hitch. Coco stayed in her room with Lala and slept like a baby for a few hours.

The sun wasn't up yet when she woke up which is a great thing for her. She picked up Lala from the pillow and placed the fairy on her hair before she exited the room.

The first thing she thought of when she exited the room is the things she need to do for the whole day and just thinking about it already made her exhausted.

I wouldn't want to stay longer. I need to buy some seed from the market before making my way back to the mountain, then plant those seeds, take care of them, and then sell them again.. Ah, so many things to do. Coco went down the stairs and let out an undignified yawn as she approached the front door.

It is still dark outside and a few people is awake, but it isn't noisy nor bustling. Imagine how her heart almost jumped out of her chest and got startled when one of the husbands walked in.

She almost let out a scream when the door opened on its own and someone came in. Alhai's turquoise eyes stared down at her in confusion because she had her hands on her chest and was shaking slightly.

"Where are you off to?" It wasn't like for him to ask where his husband is headed, but he heard from Zaque that it's not their husband's soul residing in that body anymore. He couldn't help, but be curious.

"Uh.. Uhh.. Out? Haha.." Coco laughed nervously, discreetly looking at his legs where she saw the bandages are wrapped.

From what she could remember, Alhai doesn't give a crap about Coco's whereabouts. He was the most silent one out of the four and wouldn't come out to greet her if she's home. So, imagine her shock when he showed interest in her plan!

"Is that so? Don't come back then." Alhai said without remourse as he walked past her and ascended the stairs in a hurry, disappearing from her sight.

She stood there for a moment, dumbfounded and flabbergasted at what just happened.

"Ugh.. I almost had a heart attack." She groaned out, still clutching the shirt on her chest. She doesn't know why he's out in a ungodly hour, but it's none of her business. She let out a deep breath before going out of the door, closing it behind her gently.

She took three gold coins from the money she gave to Zaque last night so they only had two gold and eleven silver coins. She need some money to buy some stuff for farming, she can't always rely on the handmade stuff she made in a hurry.

Lala's still asleep peacefully in her hair. It's amazing as to how the fairy can sleep through all that talk with Alhai because if it were her, she would have complained by now.

Her walk to the market was quiet and relaxing. There weren't many people out because it's only around three in the morning. The other stands aren't open yet and the ones that are open are the vegetable stands.

She let out a hum and made her decision, she approached the nearest vegetable stand.

"Good morning, Coco." The old man greeted her, his white hair and beard are a clear sign that he's supposed to be in bed, resting.

Based on her memory, the old man who greeted her is one of the few people who's good to her. He's old and frail, but he never lashed out on Coco whenever she would stumble on his stand.

In fact, Coco seem to like this old man because she vaguely remember that Coco Hughes had given him a bottle of liquor that he said he liked in passing when Coco asked him.

A soft spot for good people? That doesn't sound like Coco Hughes, but it's still a rare memory.

"Good morning, Sir. How much is a sack of potatoes?" Coco smiled softly at the old man.

Of course, she could only remember bits of her memories. She doesn't know their names, so she took a mental note to ask one of Coco Hughes' husbands later about the people in the village.

The man looked a little taken aback after she spoke. She could only guess that Coco Hughes must have been still and asshole to him despite being a little soft on him.

"Ten silver coins, Coco." He smiled gently at her, it was as if he's glad that she's finally taking the initiative to be good.

Coco can't blame him because if it was her witnessing the act of Coco Hughes being good, she would be happy as well. She nodded her head and slipped her hand inside her pocket to take out a gold coin.

"Do you know a shop that sells good quality farming tools?" Coco asked as she handed him the gold coin.

The man blinked and stared at her for a moment and paused. He eyed her warily before he nodded his head, he pointed at the sack of potatoes and Coco moved to pick it up.

"It's near the gates, child. The third shop is owned by Madam Hanzhan. Her tools are one of a kind that is made by a good craftsman from the city. She always bragged about it, you see." He chuckled, stroking his white beard.

"Thank you. It's best I go now. Have a lovely morning, sir." She waved at him and heaved the sack of potatoes on her shoulder.

She walked away from the vegetable stand and made her way towards the gate.

It's better to get some fruits from the trees yesterday, sell them then buy the tools. The sooner I start, the better. Coco smiled, already seeing her plants grow healthy and making people happy.

She want her potatoes to grow and bloom by her own hands. She can't just rely on Lala all the time, right? Besides, her skills mainly revolves around plants so it's better to get to know how to grow those fruits and vegetables.

I can already hear the money going into my pocket! Coco thought, excited and happy to start working.
