Tae took a deep breath, his eyes locked onto Kai's as he began to speak. "I grew up on the streets of Bangkok," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "My parents were... absent, and I had to fend for myself from a young age."
Kai's eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't say anything. He just nodded, his expression encouraging Tae to continue.
"I got involved with some... unsavory characters," Tae said, his voice hesitant. "I did things I'm not proud of, things that could have gotten me killed. But I survived, and I managed to claw my way out of the gutter."
Kai's heart went out to Tae, and he reached out to take his hand. "You're safe now," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "You're with me, and I'll protect you."
Tae's eyes locked onto Kai's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, Tae nodded, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Thank you, Kai," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "That means a lot to me."
Kai smiled back, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He was glad that Tae was opening up to him, glad that he was finally starting to trust him.
But as they sat there, holding hands and looking into each other's eyes, Kai couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to Tae's story. That there were secrets and shadows lurking in the depths of his past, secrets that could tear them apart.
"Tae, is there something else?" Kai asked, his voice hesitant. "Something you're not telling me?"
Tae's expression changed, his eyes clouding over with a mixture of fear and uncertainty. "What are you talking about, Kai?" he asked, his voice cautious.
Kai leaned in, his eyes locked onto Tae's. "I'm talking about the way you reacted when we saw that man in the alleyway," he said, his voice low and urgent. "The way you seemed to... recognize him. What's going on, Tae? Who is that man, and what does he want from you?"
Tae's eyes dropped, his shoulders slumping in defeat. "His name is Vit," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "He's... someone from my past. Someone I thought I'd left behind."
Kai's heart skipped a beat as he reached out to take Tae's hand. "What does he want from you?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
Tae's eyes locked onto Kai's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, Tae spoke, his voice barely above a whisper.
"He wants me to pay for my past mistakes," Tae said, his eyes clouding over with fear. "He wants me to suffer for what I did."
Kai's heart went out to Tae, and he pulled him into a tight hug. "You're safe now," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "You're with me, and I'll protect you. No one is going to hurt you, Tae. I promise."
Tae's arms wrapped around Kai's waist, holding him tightly as he buried his face in his shoulder. "Thank you, Kai," he whispered, his voice muffled against Kai's skin. "Thank you for being here for me."
As they stood there, holding each other tightly, Kai knew that he would do anything to protect Tae. He would face down Vit and anyone else who threatened Tae's safety, and he would make sure that Tae knew he was loved and cherished.
But as they pulled back and looked into each other's eyes, Kai couldn't shake off the feeling that they were in for a wild ride. That Vit and the secrets of Tae's past were just the beginning of a journey that would take them to the very limits of their love and trust.
