Meeting Abel

It was like a midsummer night's dream when he saw him walking in, all poised and headed somewhere.

He didn't look like a stranger at this place, his gait and walking steps gave him off. It was as if he held a significant power which his strides betrayed.

Did that mean that Lady Catherine of Asinai hadn't lied when she said that he was the one who had possessed her?

No, it couldn't be. He had vouched for Father Gaufridi then, there is no way he would be a part of this people, a part of this place.

And even if the truth was glaring Ed Warren in the eye, he refused to believe what he had seen.

His eyes followed him as he walked on, his mind contemplating whether or not he should follow him. Questioning him? Finding out his reasons for this? Making Catherine of Asinai look like a bad person when all these years she had been telling the truth. Who knew how many more people he had forced to this place after threatening them with the dark smoke?

The dark smoke he had seen was powerful and any body would be scared to the deepest marrow of their being by it, so why.

He felt a twitch in his legs. He had to move before Father Gaufridi would be out of sight. He had to confront him. He had to question his decisions of leading people whom he was supposed to protect astray.

He felt a cold hand hold his right shoulder and he shuddered. Was it a black smoke? Was this how the boy must have felt earlier when he first got attacked? Was he being attacked for wanting to confront one of the demons person's?

"Let go off Father Gaufridi Ed, you won't be able to get to him. He is very powerful here you see, he has a large scroll for the number of souls he has brought here" a voice said and he turned behind him to see a boy about his age and height standing and holding his shoulder.

He seemed to have noticed his wanderings in thought but didn't know how he was able to tell that he was thinking about Father Gaufridi.

Did he read his mind? He didn't know if they could here. Perhaps due to the demons each person had cultivated but if he recalled clearly, Father Romillon always mentioned that demons couldn't read human minds no matter how they tried.

And it was one of the limitations they had as demons which they obviously hated ofcourse.

"Ed Warren of the Franciscan Monastery Order?" The boy said again, this time directing his words to Ed whose eyes narrowed at him in confusion.

"How did you know that?" Ed quizzed the boy, worked up that he might be using his demons to violate his privacy.

"Anyone would know, Ed Warren" he replied nonchalantly, oblivious to the anger and malice that was building up on Ed's face.

"Who are you?" Ed asked him.

It was weird the way he met him and held him back from following Gaufridi. Others had just stared at him quizzically wit their peering eyes when he had walked in and then dismissed his presence after, what about him made this boy walk up to him and prevent him from what he had been about to do?

His eyes held countless questions he wanted to ask him but kept quiet, his curiosity had been what landed him here. It wouldn't help him further if he were still to be curious about everything.

But the mere thoughts of what might be the reason we're eating him up.

The boy stared at Ed, his eyes not wavering.

"Master, there is something different about him" a dainty voice that sounded as if it's vocal cords had been clogged with mucus said to him.

Ed hadn't heard and it seemed as if the voice seemed to emanate from his heart.

His eyes didn't leave Ed as he kept on staring, as if doing so would provide the answers he so desperately needed.

But truly to what his demon had said, this young man was different, and although he could not feel a core inside of him to believe that he truly was, he still believed.

The Baron had let him go. It was not the coin flipping that did. No. He wasn't a fool to have believed that. Even his demon could rewind and read backwards the scene of when he had tossed the coin and made it come down as tail. He was keeping the boy alive. But for whatever reasons, he couldn't tell why.

Ed snapped his fingers in front of the boys eyes to call back his attention. He was startled, staring at him confusedly when he returned from his train of thoughts.

"I asked whom you are" Ed said immediately he could sense that his attention was back.

"Abel De La" the boy simply answered before turning to walk away.

Ed watched him as he did without saying anything. Perhaps he had seen everything about him and figured out that he would be useless to him in his own ascension to power. "Useless Ed" he muttered to himself.

Abel paused as he was a few footwalks away from Ed.

"Master, you need to return to him. We might need him. He seems different" his demon kept telling him, trying to prevent him from walking away.

But Abel was adamant. Ed didn't look like someone he would need. He seemed like a weakling. What would a weakling possibly help him with?

Ashe was about to walk away again, he felt his legs twisting and he fell to the floor when he could not manage to walk again.

" You need to go back to him Master" the voice kept hammering.

" Stop it. I can't. I don't need him" Abel resisted, trying to stretch his legs which didn't even oblige.

Ed stared at him in utter surprise wondering what was happening to him as whom he was speaking to.

Abel struggled on the floor for some few more minutes writhing in pain as he refused to do what his demon had wanted.

Ed felt pity towards him and rushed towards him, unsure of what might be the cause of his plight nor his inability to stand.

"Are you alright?" Ed questioned as he knelt down beside him on the floor.

"What is wrong with you?" He questioned again but his attention drifted when he saw Father Gaufridi walking out of the room he had entered before.

He forgot all about the boy Abel who was on the floor and writhing in pain and was about to stand up to follow Gaufridi when a hand held him back again. But this time, the force was too concentrated. It was unlikely something a human would possess. He felt the chills down his body, as well as she shivers the touch sent to his soul.

"You shouldn't follow him. You are no match for him and he will see to it that he ends you before you would be able to take away his authority"

Fear coursed Ed's pants. This was worse than the hand that had held his shoulder. He didn't want to turn before but now after the voice he heard, it was impossible for him not to.

But lo and behold, it was still Abel speaking. But this wasn't his voice, the one he had spoken a few minutes ago to him in. Was this his demon manifesting? Was this the first welcome trauma he was going to experience at this place.

" Ed Warren of the Franciscan Monastery Order" the hoarse voice came again.

" I see it in your constellations. Your past has been wrought with misfortunes but your constellations say something different about you"

Was the demon currently reading his mind?

Ed immediately used his two hands to form a shield on his chest.

"Jesus Christ of Nazareth" he began to mention as fear kept trying to consume him.

The demon though Abel's lips chuckled lightly.

"That name is not going to save you here young boy from the Franciscan Monastery. It couldn't even save Catherine when Gaufridi took possession of her soul. How much more here, the legion of the knights and barons of Rajabla?"
