Truth Be Told

Carefully breathing, I walked around the pack house, I was waiting for that guy to come and help me understand or whatever with these powers that I supposedly have. When I suddenly decided to walk down the stairs, I saw Apollo and Ezra talking to someone I found familiar. It was the same man who worked with my mom.

"What are you doing here, Doctor?" I ask him, looking at him suspiciously. When he heard my voice, he immediately turned my way before his eyes widened in shock and surprise.

"Stella?" He asked, dumbfounded.

"Why are you here? And how did you find me?" I ask, confused.

"Stella," He repeats my name, still seeming to understand that I am here.

"What?" I ask, getting a little frustrated.

"You're the Phoenix?" He asks, softly, still seeming to be shocked at seeing me.

"Yes. I am. Why are you here?" I ask him, still waiting for answers.

"You two know each other?" Apollo and Ezra ask simultaneously while looking back and forth between us.

"Yes," I tell them before looking back towards the man.

"How?" Ezra asks, still a little confused.

"She's my daughter," The doctor lets out, causing me to look at him, flabbergasted.

"What?" I say at the same time as Ezra and Apollo. "No, you're my mom's friend from work, a doctor," I tell him, still not digesting this information.

"She was lying to you, Stella," He says, looking at me. While I didn't see any notice of lying in his eyes, I couldn't connect his words.

"She would never," I tell him. "My father ran away when I was-" Before I could finish, he cut me off.

"I never ran away. Your mother never told me about you until you were maybe 2 years old, even then, she wouldn't let me be near you or even see you," He explains. "She ended up getting a restraining order put on me just so I would leave you guys alone, and apparently she ended up lying to you," He tells me. A part of me felt betrayed by my mother, another part of me didn't understand why he was doing this.

"Why would she lie to me?" I ask him, accusingly.

"She found out that I was semi-werewolf, semi-human, and semi-Achilles Warrior, which means I am much stronger than you, but that's because I have had time to practice and expand my powers. Neither one of us had any clue that you held the power that I bear," He says.

"Understood," I say, still looking at him. "Why were you at the hospital that one day?" I ask, looking at him suspiciously.

"I accidentally hit you with my car. I wasn't paying attention while driving and as soon as I saw you, it was too late to slow down and I ended up hitting you. That is one of my deepest regrets," He says, making my eyes widen.

"Are you sure you weren't trying to kill me?" I ask, attempting to accuse him of something else.

"Absolutely not!" His voice rises a tad. "I would never try to hurt or kill anyone on purpose, especially if they didn't deserve it," He explains, making my head nod in understanding.

As my mind continued to focus on my emotions regarding my father's arrival, I felt my emotions deepen. Suddenly, I noticed a blue flashing from my hands. I looked at my hand in fear and confusion.

"Uh... What's going on?" I ask the men around me in fear.

"Shit," I hear Ezra say as he and Apollo take a few steps back.

"What is happening?" I ask, my power seeming to get stronger on my hand.

"Stella, you need to calm your emotions," I hear my father say, but it didn't seem like I had much control over my power. "Everyone, get away," My father tells the people around us as I keep my attention on my left hand.

"Help me, please," I tell my father who I suddenly noticed had purple flashing through his hands. Suddenly I had a purple shield around me. Before I knew it, a burst of blue electricity flashed around me but immediately dissolved into the shield.

When my powers finally stopped shining, I realized the power feeling had disappeared from my body.

Calming down, the shield was abruptly removed from around me before my father's purple light in his hands slowly dispersed and my father looked at me with fascination.

"Are you okay?" He asks, seeming to be in thought.

"I think so," I say, although it sounded more like a question. I wasn't sure what just happened or why the hell my hands shone.

"You seem a little confused," My father begins. Once he sees my nod, he continues speaking. "I believe your powers are currently controlled by your emotions. As you become stronger and practice using your powers, you will learn to control your powers more," He explains.

"So... my emotions?" I ask, still trying to grasp the information that my father just gave me.

"Yes, if you begin to lose control of your emotions or experience too many emotions at once then your power will take control. But, as we strengthen your powers, you should begin to feel more in control of your powers," He attempts to explain again. "We're trying to find a great time and a great terrain to train you on your abilities, but I suggest you try to control your emotions the best you can until we can figure out where and when we can do your training," He says. I nodded at his sentence, yet I was still trying to understand what he had told me about my power.
