CH 6: Golden Dragon

As he entered the house, Ragnar ran to the stairs, going to his room, jumping onto his bed with a happy smile as he rolled excitedly. He was happy. Even though his family in this world was small, he could feel the love of his parents for him. The most exciting thing, however, was the possibility of turning into a full dragon. Ragnar closed his eyes, focusing on the chat group system.

[Mission Complete]

[Do you want to accept the Reward?]

[Yes/No]

Ragnar released an excited sigh as he tried to calm himself, knowing he would fall asleep. Even though his mother was going to bake an apple pie, it would probably be ready by dinner, giving him enough time to complete his full transformation.

'Yes! Accept!' Ragnar shouted in his mind, holding his pillow tightly, closing his eyes.

[Full Dragon Transformation will begin in..3..2..1]

A wave of warmth washed over Ragnar as he felt a tingling sensation all over his body. His eyelids fluttered shut, and his consciousness began drifting away as he fell into a peaceful slumber.

Then cold sweat appeared on his body as his bones started to crack. The full transformation not only allowed Ragnar to shapeshift into a whole dragon, but it began to change his species, turning him no longer a mutant, but a real golden dragon.

The good thing was that the chat group system made Ragnar asleep, otherwise even an adult soul wouldn't be able to handle the pain his body was going through now.

Golden shimmering scales erupted from his skin, pushing aside his human flesh while the blood seeped out from his wounds that stained the mattress and the floor with deep crimson blood.

Even though unconscious, Ragnar couldn't help but hold his pillow tighter. But his hands began to change as it sprouted claws, that were sharp and strong, tearing through the soft fabric of his pillow.

His bones started to crack as his body began to expand. His hands began to be filled with golden scales, his neck began to grow longer, and golden horns appeared on his head.

His mouth and nose began to turn into a snout, as golden scales appeared on his face.

Then, wings spread out from his back, destroying his clothes. They were magnificent, shimmering gold, each scale a testament to his newfound power.

As Ragnar transformed, the bed groaned under his growing weight, its wooden frame creaking in protest. He grew larger, bigger, until the bed, unable to bear his weight, finally gave way. With a shuddering creak, the bed frame collapsed, and the golden dragon fell to the floor, making the whole second floor shake.

But the golden dragon, now larger than the bed, didn't even wake up. He continued to sleep, even starting to snore, blowing smoke from his nose.

While Ragnar changed his consciousness has gone back into the consciousness space.

•-----•-----•-----•-----•

Inside the white vast world of the conscious space, a golden dragon was flying around, flapping its wings wildly, a childish scream coming from its mouth. "Woohooo! Let's go!"

"Who's the dragon, I am!" Ragnar shouted excitedly, his consciousness now aligned with his body as he stopped and landed on the white space. He looked at his golden claws in fascination, like he had found a new toy. Then, he thought of something as he raised his head, opening his mouth, trying to breathe out fire, but only a shameful scream was heard.

"Ryahhh!!!" Ragnar, whose eyes were closed, felt something was wrong. He didn't feel any fire shooting out of his mouth. "Well now, that's embarrassing," he whispered, scratching his head with his claws. 'Thank god, I'm the only one here,' he thought, before a sound of a crying girl appeared behind him, making him jump in his dragon form.

"Yoh, step back! I know Kung Fu!" Ragnar shouted, standing on two legs in his dragon form, making a karate stance while his wings flapped, thinking it would make him look more majestic.

The girl, Jean Grey, raised her head in shock. She was just crying in her sleep when she suddenly appeared here again. She couldn't help but be stunned, even forgetting about her father's abandonment. She looked at the dragon who was in a fighting stance.

"Oh, it's you, god damn," Ragnar said when he saw Jean's face. He rubbed his chest with his claws, calming himself down, while his eyes observed Jean, wondering why she was here.

"Ragnar?" Jean Grey asked in confusion, even forgetting to cry, looking at the weird dragon who was rubbing his chest. She recognized the familiar voice of her new friend.

"Yeah, the only Golden Dragon Ragnar, at your service," Ragnar said as he walked toward Jean on two legs, making him look cute with his size, not a ferocious dragon.

"Why do you look like that?" Jean asked curiously, her fingers tracing his golden skin, not afraid of what her friend had become.

"I've become stronger! How about it? Aren't I handsome?" Ragnar asked with confidence, stretching his wings and posing with his dragon body, showing his shiny scales to Jean Grey.

Jean Grey could hear the sincerity in Ragnar's tone, that he was happy from being stronger, even if he wasn't a human anymore. "Won't your parents hate you like this?" she asked, lowering her head, remembering her father who didn't want her anymore because of her powers.

"Hate? Nope. Who would hate an awesome dragon like this?" Ragnar said, turning around, wanting to show his dragon muscles. He stopped when he saw Jean Grey lowering her head.

"Hey, what's the matter?" Ragnar asked, nudging Jean Grey with his snout, making Jean Grey hug his head.

"My father doesn't want me anymore!" Jean said, crying in sadness while hugging her friend.

"Oh..." Ragnar's eyes widened. As he was focused on completing the mission, he had forgotten about that part. "It's okay. You just need to prove him wrong," Ragnar said, tapping Jean Grey with his claws to comfort her as he freed himself from her hands, sitting beside her.

"Would that make him love me again?" Jean Grey asked, raising her head, looking at Ragnar.

"Well, maybe. But one thing is sure, you prove yourself to the world, and most importantly, to yourself, that you are not a monster," Ragnar said as one of his claws tapped Jean Grey on the chest.

"Then would you help me control my powers?" Jean asked, rubbing her eyes, looking hopefully at Ragnar.

"Well, no—of course, leave it to me!" Ragnar said, tapping his chest with his claws with confidence. He was actually about to refuse, as he didn't like doing troublesome things, but the chat group system appeared, offering Ragnar a new mission.

[Detecting Major Destiny]

[Mission One: Help Jean Grey control the Phoenix Force]

[Reward: ????]

Although Ragnar didn't know about the Reward, the mission wasn't forced, it wouldn't hurt to try.

"Then can I see you every day when I fall asleep?" Jean asked, cheering up.

'Yeah, System, why is she even here?' Ragnar asked in confusion, as he appeared in the conscious space because his body had transformed, but Jean had not.

[Your Psionic energy is in Jean Grey. Making you both connected. If you both wish to see each other, you can if you fall asleep, as both your minds are in the conscious space.]

"Ah, yes, of course. If you want to, you can appear here," Ragnar said towards Jean, showing a smile on his dragon face. 'But I didn't say I would appear here,' he thought, as he didn't want to find Jean beside him every time he fell asleep.

"Is that so? Really, really!" Jean said, hugging Ragnar's golden claws excitedly. "Then are we going to play tomorrow?" she asked, wanting to bond with her friend.

"Nope, now let go," Ragnar answered without even thinking, pushing Jean Grey's head away with his finger.

"Then can you let me sit on you and fly?" Jean asked, not caring about Ragnar's finger on her head.

"Nope. Ain't gonna happen," Ragnar said, turning around, not caring about Jean Grey. He felt this girl would have other outrageous ideas.

"Come on, pretty please. You can fly," Jean said as she hugged Ragnar's tail.

"Nooooo! Let me goooo!"

They were two children, free from the confines of their bodies, Ragnar, who had a second chance in life, was now a magnificent dragon, but his heart remained innocent that of a child. Jean, a girl struggling to control her immense power, found solace and companionship, Not knowing their bond was becoming stronger, forged in shared experiences and a shared understanding of their extraordinary powers, was blooming.
