Terror of death

"Ok, what exactly do you want, since three times protection is not enough."

Mu Shen smiled.

"I know about the Tianyuan cosmos. You and I are fully aware of what goes on there, including the horrors and monstrosities so—"

He lingered for a moment before giving out his needs.

"My demands are, a hundred years of protection from you. A hundred years of guaranteed resources for my cultivation, I think that's all."

The chief justice expression changed.

"Young man you're becoming too demanding." He voiced his disapproval very quickly but Mu Shen did not care.

"I know it's a bit too much, but at least the realization that I would get these demands of mine granted could fuel my desire to stay alive. In the Tianyuan cosmos, it has never been heard of that the horrors could differentiate between cultivators and ordinary people. It kills whom it wants to, be it cultivators or ordinary people."

The chief justice cursed and answered.

"I've really underestimated you."

Mu Shen smiled brightly as he waited for the Chief justice to come to a conclusion.

"Fine, a hundred years of protection and a hundred years of continuous supply of resources for cultivation, I hope there's no more."

Mu Shen smiled for a while but then, his smile faded and he said:

"Sorry, uh— don't mind me being too demanding but I have a one-time request, I would need it to be granted now."

The Chief Justice face scrunched up in anger.

"Young Man, you're biting more than you can chew!" An overwhelming pressure descended, almost bringing Mu Shen to his knees, but he fought to control himself.

"I know, but I just needed a few batch of star crystals so that I can become a Melder. I know it's too much but if I can increase my domain relm, I can also increase my chances of survival."

The pressure suddenly vanished making Mu Shen to breath once more.

The Chief justice brought out a cosmic ring and threw it at him.

Mu Shen excitedly caught the ring and examined it.

"There are 1000 star crystals in there. It should be more than enough to become a Melder."

1000 star crystals was like a fleeting dream, Mu Shen was excited so he showed his gratitude and stared at the rift with a grim expression.

"Please, make me appear at the safest spot so far. I can't control my environment, but you can."

The chief justice sneered. "You better keep quiet so that I don't change my mind. That cosmic ring is supposed to be for my son and I had to give it up. Who would have known that a survivor from the Tower of fifth can be so scheming."

Mu Shen smiled; "I already told you how I can be. If I hadn't set up the black clad figure with the Slumbering Mummies, the black clad figure would have killed me. And if I hadn't set the being of pure death with those three Orcs, I would not have survived up until now."

The chief justice was not feeling alright.

Had he made a mistake to recruit a monster in the form of a human? He was just too much.

He shook his head and immediately commanded the rift to take action.

A suction force came, instantly taking Mu Shen into it's bizarre maw.

And then in a thud, Mu Shen crashed on a soft ground, his legs sinking in and bouncing out afterwards.

Mu Shen opened his eyes and his pupils constricted.

There was sharp slice and Mu Shen's body was torn by the massive talons of a horrifying creature.

Mu Shen tilted his body to his own convenience as he avoided it's claws.

"So much for trusting you. So much for this place being the most safest spot to leave me." Mu Shen gritted his teeth.

Mu Shen immediately used the Ten Abyss Gates causing the air to turn frigid, then when the abyss became hollow, it grinded the creature within and killing it on the spot.

The only thing is that, he had been sliced on the chest and the injury won't heal, not even overtime. That was how the Restoration technique worked. It takes the damages from the body and breaks it down into healing energy.

Right now, the damages hadn't reached a hundred count so... unless that happens, Mu Shen's injuries wouldn't heal.

This was a flaw, however this flaw cannot be exploited unless the opponent is much stronger and knows about the restoration technique.

Mu Shen grimaced as he gripped his injured chest. He needed much more damages or else, he would be tortured by this pain. Another thing into consideration is that, the restoration technique has a unique way of transforming pain into health. That pain gotten from such injuries would be overbearing. It wasn't something that Mu Shen could endure as a Sentinel.

So what Mu Shen needed at the moment is—

More damages.

But he refrained from taking the damage that would kill him instantly, meaning that for him to revive, he would have to be touched by someone else so that he could transfer his misfortune over.

However physical contact cannot be possible if his body was torn to shreds or if he was killed by disintegration. That said, over time, he would truly die and everything would be lost for good.

This was the true terror of death. Not all kind of death can be restored by the restoration technique.

Mu Shen was already chilled to the bones but, still he did not take the initiative to look for trouble himself so he silently endured the overwhelming pain.

The Tianyuan cosmos was just like a sea. A billowing water surface where nothing atop sinks into it unless they were dead. Only the dead are buried under the sea while the living walk upon the surface.

Mu Shen still silently mastered the Sixth Sense Technique. The Sixth Sense Technique could transform at some point, and it was that transformation that he aimed for.

Whereby—

The universe would simply bend to his will, whereby he would be able to observe multiple places at a time with his eyes closed.

Whereby he could control others mentally, mind manipulation and all whatnot.

The best part however is— turning others into thralls that would become his minion in his own journey. Imagine able to turn a Progenitor as his thrall.

But that was Impossible. A Progenitor's mental fortitude was so high that someone as insignificant as Mu Shen would not even dare, not to talk of trying to change.

Mu Shen released a sigh.
