"Well, since you've asked so politely then I won't pry. However, you have to answer just one question correctly."
His gaze was suddenly intense as he glared at Mu Shen.
"You're Mu Shen, right?"
Mu Shen nodded immediately becoming wary.
"Might you have any relationship with the Mu clan?"
Mu Shen was surprised.
"Wait, there's a Mu clan somewhere?"
The Chief justice tilted his head and replied, his face transforming to that of one which had drifted down memory lane.
"They used to be the highest power back then before they were all banished. They lost everything due to the crime being charged against them."
Mu Shen was still amazed.
He had lived an ordinary life in his previous world as Mu Shen before Fu Zangtain had decided to destroy the universe. Then, he was an orphan. But now, he was Transmigrated as Mu Shen again, this time around— there was something different with him.
Not only was he feeling so different, plus he felt a distortion in his memories and also had ten locks preventing him from breaking through.
Something must have happened in an ancient past and he just unfortunately had to be involved.
Mu Shen sighed.
"I just don't remember who I am. It's a bit complicated to suddenly wake up in a building and start cultivating. Pretty simple."
The Chief Justice stared at Mu Shen some more before deciding.
"Alright, this is Wushaung Universe and in this universe, there are many planets, weaves and flowzones. Maybe you might not know due to the level of your cultivation which restricted you to the Lower realm. However, the moment you become a Melder and touches the power of flight, you'd understand much better how vast the universe is."
There was a moment of pause before the chief justice resumed talking.
"I want you to do something for me before you will be taken to the Astral Combat Academy."
Mu Shen's eyes glistened.
The Chief justice stared deeply at Mu Shen. "You should consider this as— My own task for you. Task that would earn you three times of protection from me."
Mu Shen's eyes widened.
"Wait… so if I accomplish the task, you'd protect me three times if I needed it?"
The chief justice nodded with a smile however he added;
"the only way to earn my protection is by performing the task and completing it."
Mu Shen nodded and asked:
"How do I start?"
The man sat upright and raised his hands up instantly causing a massive whirlpool to manifest within the fabric of reality.
"There is a broken world over this rift. That world is called the Tianyuan cosmos. It is a sea of dread where one can achieve all sort of invincibility and immortality. The Tianyuan cosmos is connected intermittently with various dimensions or parallel universes. My task for you now is to retrieve the Immortal radish flower."
Mu Shen was shocked.
In his previous world, the Tianyuan cosmos was the worst place to go to. There, one can become cultivators only when they survive the raging sea of the Tianyuan cosmos.
And now all of a sudden, he is going to enter that hellish place.
How is it not different from facing the being of pure death?
In the Tianyuan cosmos, they were horrors, beasts, cursed monsters or unholy Titans and these creatures were almost undefeatable, a chilling manifestation of their presence. No normal person can enter and survive— even cultivators find it difficult to survive the hell.
Mu Shen stared at the Chief justice.
"The Immortal radish flower? Why do you need that?"
The chief justice stared back at Mu Shen and tried to be as honest as possible. "Because, I'm researching on the path to eternal life."
Mu Shen wasn't convinced at all by that response.
"But, you could have just entered yourself and get the flower. You're powerful, meaning that asking me to go is same as risking my life."
"Let's just say, if I enter the Tianyuan cosmos, I would not be able to come out but, if I send you in I can still bring you out of it."
Mu Shen wasn't just wary, he was also frightened at the thought of going to the horror that the Tianyuan cosmos represents. He also remembered those in his previous world that died instantly but he immediately dismissed the thoughts.
'No, they were ordinary mortals.'
He sighed.
"I'm sorry chief justice, but putting my life at risk is not enough to gain just three protection period… i mean, I could die there and they would be no Mu Shen and also no Immortal radish flower— which simply signifies that I was only a test subject or an insignificant human. I'm not foolish."
The Chief justice was surprised that Mu Shen could refuse.
He had used a simple term to describe the Tianyuan cosmos and that's, 'A sea of dread.'
He did not expect that Mu Shen knows about the Tianyuan cosmos. All in his mind is that, Mu Shen would agree to it and they would sign an agreement, but he had downright rejected.
"Ah— little guy, you are indeed something else."
