Chapter 4

I lowered my head without speaking, feeling the coffee in my hand gradually turning cold.

The drunk hadn't even changed his clothes before coming to find Seraphina.

Seraphina froze for just a moment, then quickly returned to normal, smiling at me with no trace of unease in her expression or movements.

As if she was truly facing a stranger.

I glanced up towards the door, feeling an inexplicable emotion brewing inside me.

After breakfast, Seraphina said she would get me some fruit.

Opening the fridge, she found there was no fruit left.

She casually threw on a jacket and headed out.

As if possessed, I walked to the balcony and looked down.

Seraphina's figure soon appeared below.

Seconds later, someone suddenly rushed out from the side.

That person was clearly heading for Seraphina.

I unconsciously gripped the railing tighter.

Seraphina obviously noticed him too, but stood still.

As the drunk got close, she suddenly stepped to the side.

The drunk lunged at empty air, tumbling sideways.

Just as he was about to fall, his body suddenly stopped mid-air.

A pair of hands firmly grasped his arms.

In the end, Seraphina didn't let him fall.

It was too far to hear what they were saying.

But I couldn't shake the feeling that the drunk had a smile on his face.Seraphina returned.

She was carrying a bag of fruit.

She personally cut a plate of fruit in the kitchen.

From where I sat, I could see her soft profile, her expression focused and serious.

As if sensing my gaze, Seraphina looked up and smiled at me.

As we ate the fruit, I pondered.

Can the look of love in someone's eyes be faked too?

I really couldn't tell the difference.
