Akeno spoke loudly on purpose, her voice carrying across the schoolyard.
"Kenji-kun, are you trying to date both me and Rias at the same time?"
The surrounding students froze mid-step.
Then—chaos erupted.
"That bastard—!"
"Why him?! Why not me?!"
"Unforgivable!"
Both boys and girls turned toward Kenji with glaring eyes full of resentment.
If looks could kill, he would've been blasted into dust on the spot.
Kenji felt his scalp tingle.
"Damn it, Akeno! Why do you have to make it sound so bad?!"
He forced a strained smile. "Akeno-san, if I remember correctly, I haven't done anything to you or Rias-san, have I?"
His tone was polite, but inside, he was panicking.
Akeno, however, giggled playfully, placing a hand on her cheek.
"Ara~ ara~ Kenji-kun, did you forget what happened yesterday?"
She wiped an imaginary tear from the corner of her eye, pretending to be heartbroken.
"After everything you did to me and Rias… and now you're acting like nothing happened?"
Kenji felt his soul leaving his body.
The students around him exploded.
"SCUM!"
"PERVERT!"
"DIE, NORMIE!"
Kenji immediately turned around and ran.
"I AM NOT DEALING WITH THIS TODAY!"
---
As he fled, he caught a glimpse of Koneko.
Or rather—the two-star Golden Egg hovering above her head.
Kenji's eyes flashed with determination.
"I need to get that egg… but right now, I need to survive!"
---
Meanwhile…
Rias watched Kenji run away, amused.
She glanced at Akeno. "You're more interested in him than I expected."
Akeno simply smiled. "Oh? Did I give myself away?"
Rias narrowed her eyes slightly.
"You usually only tease people you're familiar with. Why him?"
Akeno's gaze drifted toward where Kenji had disappeared.
"Because he's… different."
Rias tilted her head. "Different how?"
Akeno's smile softened. "Rias, think about it."
"The Stray Devil from last night… died exactly along the route Kenji took home."
Rias's expression shifted.
"You think he was the one who killed it?"
Akeno nodded slowly. "The timing matches up too well, doesn't it?"
Rias frowned.
"But Kenji was tested when he entered Kuoh Academy. He's just an ordinary human."
Akeno chuckled. "Then maybe he isn't so ordinary anymore."
Rias's eyes darkened slightly. "If he's a Sacred Gear user… we need to confirm it."
Koneko, who had been silently listening, finally spoke.
"If you want to know… let's test him."
Rias and Akeno turned toward her.
Koneko stared at them blankly. "If he has power, I'll know."
Rias smirked. "Good idea."
She turned and started walking toward the school building.
"Let's go. It's time to see what Kenji is hiding."
Akeno followed, giggling. "Poor Kenji-kun. He has no idea what's coming."
Koneko simply nodded. "If he's weak, I'll just punch him."
---
Back in the Classroom…
Kenji had barely recovered from Akeno's earlier stunt when—
He noticed Rias and Akeno staring at him.
Their smiles were unreadable.
Kenji felt a chill down his spine.
"…Why do I feel like something bad is about to happen?"
Then—
The school bell rang, and class began.
For the next few hours, Kenji struggled to focus.
He wanted to start hunting for more Golden Eggs—but he couldn't just skip class and attract attention.
Finally—lunch break arrived.
Kenji stood up immediately, ready to start his Egg Hunt.
But before he could even take a step—
Rias suddenly appeared in front of him.
She smiled sweetly. "Kenji-kun, we need to talk."
Akeno stood beside her, giggling. "It won't take long~"
Kenji's instincts screamed at him.
He glanced at Akeno—then at Rias—then back again.
They weren't giving him a choice.
He sighed. "I don't suppose I can refuse, can I?"
Rias's smile didn't change. "No."
Kenji forced a smile. "Figured."
---
A Quiet Clearing…
Rias, Akeno, and Kenji walked away from the school toward a secluded spot in the woods.
It was the same place Kenji had confessed to Rias yesterday.
Kenji felt his nerves tighten.
The moment they stopped—Rias and Akeno turned to face him.
Kenji exhaled slowly.
"Alright. What do you two want from me?"
