Chapter 39: Food for thought

I watched Nathaniel and Aron exchanged looks. I had no idea why that was. I mean, they weren't friends.

Or at least I didn't believe they were friends. What with Nate's crush on me and Aron being my soulmate? They should be natural enemies.

But they weren't. No, they were allies. Not that I knew it at that time.

Or even knew what the two had planned for me.

Something one could call a sandwich… with me between two beefy bread buns…

But that wasn't my concern at that moment. No, my concern was the fact that Aron was pregnant. With a Boliarin. And Nathaniel was a Boliarin!

I turned to Nate, who was helping himself to seconds. It was not like the soldiers wanted to come over and eat.

Well, more for Nate and Aron, then!

"By the way," Nate said so, as if he was going to end my world. "You said you can make a Lich as well, right?"

Nate patted himself on his stomach.
