I keep chanting to myself as I make my way to my office cubicle. I check my boss's office and he's not in yet. I wonder what's kept him occupied to the point that he's not come to work on time, like he always does.

As I sort out Xavier's schedule for the day, I receive a bunch of notifications from our department's employee group chat. I scroll through them, interested to see what's going on.

'She's so freaking pretty!'

'and she's so on par with him. They truly deserve each other, I'm so jealous.'

'Right? Imagine how cute their kids will look!'

'Girl, they'll be so freaking cute!'

'Guys, she just smiled at me.' Faye, the receptionist says.

'Really? I'm so jealous.'

'She's now entered the elevator with boss. Guys, I can't believe I'm in the same elevator as them!'

'That means they're going to his office.'

'Kate, over to you.'

'Yes, Kate. Tell us everything you see and hear.'

'Don't leave anything out.'

'Hey Kate, is she really pretty in person? Come on, tell us.'

The strings of chats keep coming in, and I just feel even worse.

Today's gonna be a good day.

What a joke!

"Good morning, Kate."

Xavier greets me with the mighty Riley by his side. They're too close to my liking.

She looks even more breathtaking up close. How can someone glow so much?

I'm so jealous of her.

I evy her, and I hate myself for it.

"Riley, this is Kate, my personal assistant. Kate, this is Riley."

"It's nice to finally meet you."

That pang of jealousy creeps back into my heart as I shake her smooth, soft hand. On top of it all, she smells so freaking good.

"Same here, ma'am." I politely respond. Trying to keep the dismay from showing on my face.

Riley looks at me intently, like she's already caught onto my feelings for her fiancé. My gut feeling is always right.

She chuckles and smirks at me, like she's amused. Xavier leads her into his office, closing the door behind him.

It's been a couple of minutes since the two of them entered Xavier's office. I can already figure out what's going on. Riley is an influential A-list model. I'm guessing she's gonna work with us for the upcoming beauty collection.

I'll be seeing more of her, I guess.
