Him

Riley

The next morning.

I had a good night's sleep. Yesterday was so not cool. First day of period sucks!

I felt Xavier's strong arms still wrapped around my waist. Just like the good old days when he used to hold me tightly in his arms like this. As much as I hate to admit it, Xavier really helped me out yesterday.

I detached myself from his grasp, with him still sleeping. I took my much needed bath and changed into some comfy clothes.

When I got back into the room from my walk-in closet, I found that Xavier was finally awake.

I cleared my throat, announcing my presence. "Uhm. Thanks a lot for yesterday."

He looked at me, then nodded his head. "Don't worry about it."

Xavier made his way to the bathroom and then I heard the shower running. He was really making himself comfortable. Tsk.

We quietly had breakfast with the both of us minding our own business on our respective phones.

Xavier got up, cleared all the plates and cutlery from the breakfast table. He insisted on washing them, although he's the one who also made breakfast.

"Riley, I need your help."

I looked up at him from my phone. "I'm listening."

"Can you be the brand ambassador for our upcoming skincare and beauty collection?"

I didn't respond, just stared at him. Was he really asking me, of all people?

"... and why would I help you with that?" I asked, teasing him.

Of course, I'd help him, but it wouldn't hurt to play with him a little.

"Riley, please. For old times sake?" He sounded sincere that it almost brought me back to the good old days when things were great. Almost.

I rolled my eyes. "Fine. You don't have to be such a baby about it."

He grinned, shaking his head.

"We can go over the contract today if you want."

"You really had this planned out already, didn't you?"

Xavier smirked while shrugging his shoulders.

After getting changed into my elegant outfit, we departed for his office.
