Nightmares

Kate

My head hurts so bad, and it's pitch black. I tried touching my head when I realised that my hands were tightly tied with a rope behind my back to a chair, and so were my legs.

"Who dared to do this?!" My voice echoes. Just where am I?

I remind myself not to panic because that's what they would want.

The sound of someone hitting the iron sheet walls echoes throughout the room. I'm assuming that I'm in a shipping container.

"We'll, well, well. Looks who's finally up."

I gulp nervously. "We're gonna have so much fun."

Just who are these people? My chair gets pushed to ground, with me falling down too. The two guys untie my ropes on my legs and hands.

I removed my blindfold to see these two burly guys towering over me. "Why are you doing this?"

The two guys ignore me. One of them forcefully pulls me up. He stands behind me, clasping my hands behind my back. The other guy comes back and lays his first punch to my abdomen.

That hurt! I'm sure that I have a broken rib from all the punches he gave me. I plop down, my legs unable to hold me up anymore.

"You have till we count to 20 to hide. I'm sure you don't want us to find you." The guy who was punching me says. "One, two, three..."

I force my exhausted body to walk away from the two guys as fast as I can. I make it out of the shipping container to see that it's a maze of other shipping containers.

I can't help but sob as I force my body to escape. If they find me, I'll be dead.

I was on my way to work. I got in the Uber, and the next thing I know, I wake up here in this shipping container. Was Chloe behind this? Who else could it be?

I'm like 10 shipping containers away from those guys, but I need to walk faster. I need to get out of here, alive.

The loud sound of the door banging brought me back to my senses. I brought my head out of the bathtub I was sprawled across.

"Are you crazy?!" I coughed, trying to get some much needed air into my lungs.

"We're you trying to drown yourself?" I hold onto Josh for dear life. Was that a nightmare? It was so scary. It felt so real.

Josh helped to dry me up and get changed. When I looked outside, it was pitch black.

"Did you even go to work?"

"I don't think so." He sighed.

"Kate, what's going on? I'm worried about you."

"I also don't know."

"That's okay. You should lie down." He helps me get under the covers. "You're okay, Kate. I'm right here."

Josh's soothing voice helped me go to sleep.
