Regardless, life still moved on. While Kaia's life was cut short at a tender age of 19, everyone else's life still went on. If she was looking down at everyone, did Kaia feel wronged? No one would ever know.

Kaia's sudden death put a strain on the already fragile relationship between Ruby and her parents. She vowed never to forgive her parents, ever.

On the day that Kaia was expelled from Elitecrest High, and her parents caught wind of it, they had her bags thrown out of the house. Despite her relentless pleading, Annie and Warren hardened their hearts. They were done sheltering their adopted child, who was bringing nothing more than shame to them.

Unfortunately, Ruby was out of the country for her modelling work when her sister was kicked out of their parents' house. Since the two sisters were still not on speaking terms after Ruby's dating scandal, Kaia didn't reach out to Ruby, thinking it wasn't necessary.

When Ruby finally came back, it was too late. By that time, Kaia was already dead.

After getting kicked out and having nowhere to go, considering how her best friends broke off their friendship with her coz of her assault on Nadia, she decided to take shelter at Elitecrest High just for the night.

Luck was not on her side because, as Kaia sheltered herself from the cold on one of the beds in the teachers's resting lounge since it started raining heavily outside, an unknown figure in all black followed her in that room. Compared to her fragile, little body, the burly man towered over the scared Kaia successfully trapping her.

Her screams for help were muffled against his hand that were wrapped around her mouth. After finishing his deed, the masked man revealed his face. It was Mr Fitzgerald. He managed to escape the police station and followed Kaia just so that he could s*xually assault her like he had planned.

Mr Fitzgerald managed to do just that. He finished tying his belt around his waist before leaving the teachers's resting lounge, not sparing her another glance.

Kaia remained on the ground, her innocence taken away just like that. She felt immerse anger, bitterness, and frustration. Tears couldn't stop streaming down her face. How could this happen to her? Wasn't it enough that in one day she was expelled from school, kicked out of her home and her two best friends turned their backs on her?

The next morning, that's when Kaia's dead body was found by the janitor. Her corpse was found sprawled across the floor, where she lay the previous night. She had a knife wound on her abdomen. That's what caused her school uniform to be drenched in so much blood.

Fortunately, though, the police detectives caught Mr Fitzgerald just in time before he fled the country. The cctv cameras in the hallways caught him making his entrance in the teachers's resting lounge after Kaia stepped in. Her screams for help were also caught on camera.

Mr Fitzgerald was deemed the suspect for Kaia's murder but he was later just charged with s*xual assault after police investigation failed to link his involvement to Kaia's death.

The cctv cameras in the hallways didn't catch Mr. Fitzgerald or anyone going back into the resting lounge. Even cctv cameras opposite the resting lounge's window didn't catch anyone climbing through the window.

The murder weapon was analyzed, and only Kaia's fingerprints were found on it, and her blood was never found on Mr Fitzgerald. In addition, her corpse didn't show any signs of resistance that would prove that she fought her murderer before her death. The way the wound appeared, the experts confirmed that it appeared she stabbed herself.

In the end, despite their reluctance, the case was closed.

As the years went by, from time to time, everyone in the country couldn't help but think back to Kaia's untimely demise. The nation failed to protect an innocent 19 year old girl.

While others still moved on with their lives, Ruby was having it hard. Kaia's sudden demise took a toll on her. To the extent that she put her modelling career on hold. She couldn't help but blame herself for not protecting her little sister like she should have. Regardless of their issues, as the elder sister, she was supposed to look out for Kaia.

In no time, 6 years went by. If Kaia Smith were alive, she'd have turned 25 years old.
