Chapter 7

Having confirmed the date of Nash's mother's visit, we made reservations at a restaurant for that evening.

On that day, I returned home, wanting to tidy up thoroughly. Nash wasn't wrong - the "ugly bride" had to meet the in-laws, after all!

But just as I was feeling both nervous and excited, a phone call changed everything.

My mother was sobbing uncontrollably on the phone. My father had suddenly suffered a heart attack in Europe and was hospitalized.

That wasn't even the worst part. The worst was that this type of heart condition my father had was highly hereditary.

My father's condition was very serious, and my mother needed to stay by his side.

And I, being directly related to my father, could very likely have this heart condition as well.

My mother said she had already arranged with Uncle Shaw for me to go to the hospital immediately for an examination.

The sudden turn of events left me flustered and at a loss, completely unsure of what to do.
