Chapter 1

After my emotional affair, I asked Finn for a divorce seven times.

On the seventh time, he finally agreed.

Unlike the previous six times when he desperately tried to keep me, this time he was unusually calm.

So calm that he didn't even bother to lift his eyelids.

He could even smile as he said to me,

"Melody, we're finally over."

As I gazed at the relief in his eyes, somehow, I felt a void in my heart.

But I should be happy, shouldn't I?

————————

At 8 PM sharp, there was a knock on the door.

It was Finn's junior, Zoran, who was also my secret lover outside of my relationship.

I went to open the door with mixed emotions.

As soon as Zoran entered, he pulled me into his arms right in front of Finn.

He taunted Finn, saying:

"Brother, what's the point of holding onto Melody like this?"

"Have you looked at yourself lately? Unshaven, hair unkempt, you look like a slovenly middle-aged man."

"Every time Melody talks about you, she feels sick to her stomach. If I were..."

Before Zoran could finish, I tugged at his sleeve and said softly:

"Zoran, he agreed."

Zoran's next words got stuck in his throat, caught off guard.

When he finally processed what I said, he gripped my shoulders excitedly, his palms trembling.

"Really? Melody, we can be together openly now!"

He pulled me into a tight embrace, his heart pounding.

This time, however, I didn't reciprocate as I had before. Instead, I instinctively pushed him away. For the past few months, Zoran has been punctually showing up at 8 PM every night to assert his claim.

Since Finn refused to agree to our divorce, we've been doing everything couples do right in front of him.

Like kissing and hugging.

But I'm a conservative person, so that's about as far as it goes.

Zoran also verbally abuses Finn every day, just like he did earlier, tearing him apart with his words.

Finn went from being angry at first to becoming numb.

Until now, he's finally calm and agrees to divorce me.

But people are strange creatures after all.

When he wouldn't agree, I tried every way to force him.

Now that he's agreed, I feel a bit uneasy.

"Well..."

I opened my mouth, but didn't know what to say.

"I'll go get the divorce papers."

Finn turned around calmly and went to his bedroom.

We've been married for two years, sleeping in separate beds for a year and a half.

If I could have found any attractive qualities in him, I wouldn't have gotten to this point.

Zoran, coming down from his excitement, suddenly looked worried.

"Melody, he agreed so quickly this time before we even started. Could this be a trick?""You are this marriage's transgressor. If he uses this to claim a significant portion of our assets, wouldn't we be at a severe disadvantage?"

I gazed at Finn's retreating figure and shook my head.

"He won't do that."

After two years of marriage, my intuition told me he wasn't some conniving, cunning individual.

He was just... mediocre.

The kind of ordinary man you'd lose in a crowd.

And I, considering myself exceptional, believed that such an ordinary man was absolutely beneath me.

So I cheated.

And I did it without a shred of guilt.

If Finn wants to get something out of this marriage, as long as it's within my means, I'd agree to it.

After all, we were husband and wife. We should part ways amicably.
