Finn handed me the signed divorce agreement.
His expression was very calm, as if he had truly let go completely.
I reached out my hand, about to take it, but Zoran had already snatched it away before I could.
Seeing me frown at him, he smiled.
"I have a lawyer friend who happens to be very skilled at handling divorce cases."
"For situations like ours, I'll ask him about it later."
He was still wary that Finn might have manipulated something in the divorce agreement.
Finn, however, seemed not to have detected the caution in his words and stood up.
"When you've looked it over well, let Ms. Frost sign it and let me know. We still need to go to the courthouse together."
"I'll have all my things packed up in the next few days, and I'll move out as soon as possible."
We weren't even divorced yet, and his way of addressing me had already changed from the intimate "darling" to the distant "Ms. Frost."
But this was exactly the outcome I wanted, so why did I feel this sense of loss in my heart?
It was as if... this shouldn't be the ending between us.
Before I could figure out where this inexplicable feeling in my heart came from, Zoran had already put down the divorce agreement.
He had just taken photos of each page and sent them out via text message."Melody, since you've both agreed on the divorce, would it be alright if I stayed here tonight?"
Zoran's hand slipped around my waist, his fingertips gently caressing.
I instinctively glanced at Finn.
We hadn't completed the divorce process yet, so technically, we were still husband and wife.
If I let Zoran stay overnight, would it be too humiliating for him?
Finn seemed to read my thoughts.
He spoke with extreme calmness.
"This is your home. Do as you please."
With that, he began clearing the table, dumping all the food into the trash.
Every day, no matter how late I came home, Finn would have hot meals waiting for me.
Today was no exception.
Except I started talking about divorce as soon as I got home, not even bothering to eat dinner.
He used to always ask if I was hungry.
For the first time, he didn't even ask before throwing everything away.
