Night had fallen. New York City was still brightly lit with streetlights, billboards, and rows of towering skyscrapers. The sound of vehicles, police sirens, and people's laughter could still be heard in various corners of the city.
In the park they had visited last night, the atmosphere was quieter. There were only a few people still sitting on the park benches, perhaps just to relax or enjoy the tranquility of the night.
Zeyu, Kailu, Aline, Yuke, and Zulian sat on one of the benches not far from where the mysterious man had played the violin last night. They waited expectantly, although some of them still felt a little doubtful.
"Do you think he will really show up?" whispered Aline, folding her arms.
"We'll see," said Kailu casually, although he was also curious.
Several minutes passed without any sign of the man's appearance. However, suddenly...
A violin tune was heard in the silence of the night.
The sound was so melodious, but it also held a strange aura—as if it carried deep sadness. The sound of the violin seemed to be telling a story, depicting suffering, loss, and something greater than that.
They all immediately turned to the source of the sound.
Under the dim light of the garden lamp, stood the mysterious man. His long light blue hair glistened under the moonlight, and his eyes of the same color looked so sharp, as if they could see into a person's soul.
The man continued to play his violin with great feeling, ignoring their presence.
Zeyu swallowed. "He really appeared..."
Kailu stood up slowly. "I'll talk to him."
"Kailu, be careful," Yuke whispered.
Kailu nodded, then walked over to the man carefully.
However, just as he was about to open his mouth to ask, the man suddenly stopped his playing and stared at Kailu with a sharp gaze.
"You've finally come."
The man's voice was deep and calm, but there was something in his tone that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end.
Zeyu and the others also approached.
"Who are you really?" Kailu asked bluntly.
The man smiled faintly. "You don't need to know my name now."
Zulian tried to remain calm. "Then, why did you seem to be waiting for us?"
The man stared at the sky for a moment before saying in a low tone, "Because… your journey has just begun."
They all fell silent.
Aline bit her lip. "What do you mean?"
The man did not answer immediately. Instead, he stepped forward, then looked at each of them one by one.
"There is something bigger waiting for you. A truth that you may not have expected. You all think that this trip is just a vacation, but in fact… you have been involved in something far more dangerous."
Zeyu frowned. "What are you talking about?"
The man smiled faintly. "Sooner or later, you will find out for yourself."
After saying that, the man picked up his violin again and resumed playing the melancholic melody.
The night wind blew, making the atmosphere feel even stranger and mysterious.
Zeyu and his friends exchanged glances. They knew… this wasn't just an ordinary meeting.
To be continued...
