Chapter 9: The Maskd Man

Chapter 9: The Masked Man.

Reggie's mind was racing, trying to figure out what the argument meant. Who is the masked person? While Reggie was thinking about these things, his phone rang. He picked it up and listened to the voice on the other end. "What happened?" Lucy asked when she saw the excitement on Reggie's face. Reggie's eyes lit up. "I'm Detective James," he said. "He sees clues that might clear things up." Lucy's eyes widened. "What if we go?" she asked.

Reggie smiled. "That depends on the witnesses who claim to have seen the mask in the house on the night of the robbery." Lucy narrowed her eyes. "The one with the mask?" she repeated. Reggie nodded. "Yes," he said. "According to witnesses, the suspect was wearing a black Domino mask." Lucy's eyes widened. "A black domino blanket?" he repeated. "That's the same mask that the robbers wear in the movies." Reggie's eyes lit up. "I know," he said. "It's just a coincidence. I think we found something." Reggie was overjoyed when they arrived at the witness's house. They were finally close to solving this problem. The witness, Mrs. Jenkins, a very nervous woman, met them at the door. "I'm glad you came," she said. "I'm impressed by what I saw." Reggie smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry, Ms. Jenkins," he said. "Tell me. Can you tell us what you saw?"

Ms. Jenkins nodded. "I was walking home from a book launch and I saw a picture in the house," she said, "and then I saw the mask."

Reggie narrowed his eyes. "What about the pictures?" he asked. Mrs. Jenkins hesitated. "I don't know if I should say this or not," she stammered. Reggie's teaching is gentle. "Mrs. Jenkins, we need to know the truth," he said. "Can you tell us what you saw?"

Mrs. Jenkins took a deep breath. "These pictures… "The picture shows the mansion being entered through a side door," he said. "And then... then I saw them come back with something shiny in their hands." Reggie's eyes widened. "What's that shiny thing?" he repeated. Mrs. Jenkins nodded. "Yes," he said. "I think it's in his neck." When Reggie left Mrs. Jenkins couldn't help but be happy when he saw the Jenkins house. They were finally close to solving the problem. But as he walked toward the car, Reggie noticed something strange. There was a piece of paper stuck under the windshield wiper. Reggie's heart sank as he read the words. "This is a warning," he said. "Someone is trying to stop this problem from happening to us." Lucy's eyes widened. "What did he say?" he asked. Reggie's training was intense. "Anyway, give me this case, or it's your turn," he said.

Reggie read the words and narrowed his eyes. "This is getting personal," he said. "Whoever is behind this is trying to hurt us."

Lucy's eyes flashed with determination. "We can't let them scare us," he said. "We need to do more research."

Reggie nodded in agreement. "You're right," he said. "We can't let the criminals get away with this."

As the investigation continued, Reggie couldn't help but feel uneasy. They were getting closer to the truth, but they were also putting themselves in danger. But Reggie is determined to solve the problem, no matter the cost. He is motivated by his sense of honesty and his desire to tell the truth.
