Chapter 8:The Inquisitor

Those were indeed her words, but they were spoken under the notion that Leon wouldn't jump, or even if he did, he wouldn't survive; the fact that he would jump and survive never occurred to her.

Even during the time she thought he was dead, she was at least relieved that she was going to marry someone she loved, but that wouldn't be the case; she had inadvertently trapped herself.

"That…"

She was about to speak and deny or refuse him, but she caught herself; if she denied it, that would mean she was going back on her words and thus implying whatever she says in the future won't have merit; however, under no circumstances was she willing to marry a person she doesn't love.

"Doesn't matter I won't marry you; I don't care if you survived."

That was all she said before she excused herself and left the room, followed by Natasha, who offered her goodbyes to Leon.

"I suppose that was expected; after all, nothing is ever easy."

He said to himself and rested on his back; he was going to be released by tomorrow, so he could finally go home. His dad hadn't come to visit him, but that was fine. The old man knew what was up.

Getting back on topic, Leon didn't want to force any of the women into a relationship with him. He understood that to love a stranger would take a while, and he was patient and willing to do whatever it took for all three of them to love him.

Realistically speaking, he could have treated this as a business transaction. He gets what he wants, and they get what they want- well, the parents are the ones that benefit- and simply stop there. He would still be married to them, but that is where it ended, Leon didn't want that.

What he wanted was a mutual relationship of love where all parties involved would be satisfied, not just one party or even a party that wasn't even involved; essentially, Leon was greedy.

He wanted to fulfill his selfish desire to have a harem but at the same time have everyone involved be happy, which was unrealistic.

Sure, polygamous relationships were a thing that existed but that didn't mean everyone in such relationships was happy, most men or women use the money to keep their multiple partners and that was exactly what Leon didn't want, his goal was to impregnate them and have them give birth to powerful children but that didn't mean he had to treat them like they're machines with the sole purpose of making babies.

Not to mention, the children that will be born need a stable and safe environment to grow up in, so it's essential that the women he wants to court not only be fine with whatever arrangement they agree to but also need to be happy and content.

"Magic exists, nothing is unrealistic."

He muttered to himself, convinced of his own reasoning. If he could create a black hole right here and now, then surely even something like having a relationship with 3 different women shouldn't be that difficult, or at least that's what he believed.

....

It was night time and Leon was currently reading a book, a spell book to be more specific, Leon did not really need to learn new spells as he had learned all the spells in every spell book he had ever read however due to his immense boredom he is compelled to re-read the book in an attempt to combine various types of spells to create a new spell.

He did not like the idea of remaining stagnant and tried to learn more magic every day; he believed magic to be something with no limit. As such, those who practice the art of magic are also limitless and with great potential.

It was quite unfortunate, though, as many mages were satisfied with mediocrity, and that was partly why he hated them.

"So, you're just gonna read that book and ignore me?"

The undead spirit floated above his head and asked, trying to gain his attention.

"If you want me to exercise you just say so."

He threatened without giving the ghost even a glance, Leon wasn't interested in the spirit that haunted his hospital room.

His lack of interest is because there were basically other undead spirits wandering the hospital, so the one in his room wasn't particularly interesting; hospitals are always like that, after all, a place filled with undead horrors that the normal man could never understand.

Just hours ago a man was sedated because he kept screaming something about a demon with one eye.

"You're quite unfriendly for a kid."

The ghost commented; however, a bright white glow from Leon's hand immediately caused him to shut up and float away with a pout on his face.

As the ghost left Leon alone, there was a sudden increase in weight at the bottom of his bed prompting Leon to take his eyes off the book he was reading and look up to find out the sudden increase in weight.

"Sup Leon, Howya been?!"

A young man that was close to Leon's age cheerfully gave his greetings; the man had bright red hair and dark red eyes; he wore a bandana on his forehead, and had a bright smile on his face as he raised his hand to wave at Leon.

"Yo Zach, bro, what's up?"

The man, now known as Zach, wore what looked to be a military uniform, black boots with black trousers tucked into the boots, and a black blazer with a symbol that looked to be a book placed on a podium. The Uniform also came with a hat, but Zach preferred the bandana.

Zach was an Inquisitor for the Council of Mages, which was an organization that oversaw practically all supernatural-related events, including Exorcism and ensuring the world of magic remained hidden from the eyes of normal men.

Although Zach was an Inquisitor, meaning, he was amongst the highest ranking people within the organization, only being below the Marshals.

"Yeah, I've been good, I've been good, you?"

Leon responded with a tone that was relaxed and nonthreatening. One would usually be on high alert when a stranger suddenly invades their room, but Leon was as calm as can be.

"Same bro, nothing new"

"Good, good"

A silence descended upon the room as the two individuals stared at each other with bright smiles on their faces, longtime friends that hadn't seen each other in years, one would assume as such.

"Where's the book of flowers?"

The bright smiles on their faces faded, and deep frowns appeared; Zach's eyes glowed a dark red, a telltale sign that he was circulating his mana throughout his body. The glow in the eyes was a clear sign that the person was ready for a battle.

"You know I can kick you in the balls right now, right?"

Zach did not flinch and continued to stand over Leon with a menacing and somewhat threatening aura.

"Answer my question."

Came a demand that did not sit right with Leon, making him frown deeper. However, he decided to answer the man anyway.

"I burned it."

"No, you didn't"

"I BURNED it!"

"NO, you didn't!!"

The two once again became silent and stared at each other with serious looks. It seemed that Zach wasn't going to buy his bullshit; the Book of Flowers is one of the most sacred magic books that belonged to the great magician, The great Merlin.

To burn it would not only be a crime but gross disrespect to the man who wrote the book; plus, as a descendant of Merlin, Leon would never dare do such a thing, or maybe he would.

"You're not getting it."

"Look, Leon, I know that book belongs to your family and all that, but it's still a piece of great magical knowledge, and it's a historical piece with great value. We can't have a single family keep it, please be reasonable."

"For one, no you ain't getting shit. Two fuck off and tell those old geezers to fuck themselves."

"Look bro I don't want to fight you…"

"Yeah, I don't want to fight me either."

"… as an Inquisitor for the Council, I can't let you undermine the authority of the council, you know that."

"Oh my, if being an Inquisitor makes you do things you don't want, why don't you quit then?"

Leon flippantly asked as he rolled his eyes.

"Why are you even keeping the book? Nobody can read it. Great Merlin had it encrypted."

"It's mine regardless."

There was another long silence as the two stared at each other; it was clear Leon wasn't going to give up the book, and as an Inquisitor, it was his duty to take it by force, but Zach wasn't stupid, so he relented.

"Fine, I guess that concludes our weekly spat."

"Yeah, next time, try to be more threatening."

"Whatever"

Zach waved his hand dismissing Leon's comments and dropped off the bed and went to sit on a Chair.

"Huh?! There's a ghost tied to this room."

Zach noted as he sat on the chair.

"Exorcism?"

"Don't care."

Zach shrugged, deciding not to do anything about the ghost either. Both were knowledgeable about spirits. As such, they should know why letting a ghost linger in the living world for too long is dangerous, yet they do not care.

"So, how's your dad?"

Zach asked his question laced with a flirtatious undertone that served to make Leon's skin crawl.

"That's disgusting, stop it."

"Was just asking."

Zach responded with a smile; getting under his skin was the one way he could get back Leon for this book of flowers ordeal, though he was genuinely curious if the 'stud' that is Leon's dad was doing all right.

"Yeah, well ask something else or leave."

Leon spat at him, Leon didn't mind the gayness of his friend, but he would not tolerate Zach aiming for his dad,

'Bro can be gay all he wants but he should stay away from my dad.'

Leon thought the imagery of his dad taking backshots from his best friend or his dad giving backshots was something he did not like invading his mind.

"Harsh, but fine, I'll be leaving."

Having successfully annoyed Leon, Zach decided to leave; it was best he not get on the man's nerves too much lest he find himself falling from the stratosphere; Leon was quite merciless when irritated.

"Before that can you check out the cliff just outside this city for me."

"Why? Is there something dangerous?"

"Can't say but a place the fairies don't play in is definitely suspicious."

"Aight bet, later."

With that, Zach disappeared via the use of Teleportation magic, leaving Leon alone with his thoughts once more.
