'odd'
"Are you threatening my father?"
She asked, although she thought the question itself was ridiculous as if a noname nobody would ever have the resources to threaten her father.
"Haha! Of course not, he's the one that came to me"
Hearing those words convinced her further that there was certainly a benefit that her father knew, something that he needed, something that required her to marry Leon, but what could it be?!
She let out a sigh as she saw that she wouldn't get any answers about anything and he'd probably deflect any more questions at least now she was aware of a few things
"Very well then"
She conceded and prepared to leave.
"Really you're leaving? I'm the guy you're supposed to marry you know"
"Yes I know, but what exactly am I supposed to do, sit and wait? Asking you questions is leading me nowhere"
She explained.
"Fair, although let me ask you a question"
She nodded.
"What's your favorite food?"
He asked and she thought about it for a bit, she never really thought about the idea of having a favorite food, as the food was just food, as long it tastes good, so instead she tried to think of the food that tasted the best to her
"Pancakes, or muffins, home baked"
"Oh interesting, I thought you'd say something like caviar, or sushi, or something along those lines."
"Sorry but no and that's a stereotype, besides caviar is disgusting, bye"
Was all she said before exiting the hospital room; as she walked through the hallway, she could not help but wonder about what information she had received from him.
If Leon simply jumped off a cliff purely because Selina asked him to, then would he do the same if she asked him?
Was he so obedient that he would do anything anybody asked? Is that why her father wanted her to marry him because he would be an excellent puppet to control?
Her father would be the type to use others without question; it would make sense if he wanted an obedient puppet, but she doesn't need to marry Leon for that to happen; she threw that idea out the window.
'There's definitely something else that's going on'
She thought the only thing she knew right now was that her father contacted Leon wanting something. He probably tried to threaten him, but he didn't care or had something that made threats pointless; this meant that either her father offered up her for marriage or Leon asked for it.
"Leon has something my father wants, but he can't have it using threats and other methods so someone brought up the marriage."
She concluded she also thought she needed to talk to Selina a bit; no doubt the woman was probably shocked that she basically killed a man.
….
"Are you okay?"
Arthur asked his girlfriend as she seemed to be in a terrible mood. It's been almost a week since the incident, but the girl hadn't gotten any better; she barely ate her food and seemed to sleep more often now.
He feels that she should just get over it, it's not like she did anything wrong and even if she did, that man was hardly important
"Yeah, I'm fine"
The usual confidence in her voice was gone; right now, she sounded like a depressed teenager contemplating suicide.
The two of them were in the dining room and eating breakfast, and with Selina's mood, the food tasted quite bland. In fact, it made Arthur lose his appetite.
"Things will be all right; this is simply a phase; it'll pass."
He said, all the evidence regarding her involvement in the death of that man has been erased. Her car got a new paint job and number plate, and after asking a few questions from the campus, they guaranteed that she wasn't recognized by anyone, so all things were sorted.
"Yeah, I guess so."
She once again responded with the same monotone. To an extent she had tried to absolve herself of the blame; after all, she didn't push him down that cliff; he did that all by himself. However, the fact that she told him to jump off it was the source of her guilt.
She regretted her choice of words. She regretted driving to that cliff. She regretted charging the car for the trip and all the actions that led her to that place and had her say those words.
While Selina was moping about, one of the maids had entered the room and whispered something into Arthur's ear making him nod in agreement.
"Lady Selina, you have a guest."
"Who is it, I'm not really interested in talking with people right—"
"It's Lady Natasha"
There was silence as Selina did not speak as a myriad of thoughts flashed in her head, why was Natasha here? There's no way she was able to link that guy's death to her right? It's possible her company bugged their cars meaning they could know what happened.
Selina seemed to be panicking; she had no idea what to do; her fear was amplified as soon as the click-clack of heels resounded in the house; she could tell they were heading her way.
She stared at the door and waited for Natasha. She had no idea what she was going to say to her, who was to blame for the death of an innocent person.
"Good morning, Selina"
Natasha's calm voice reached her ears. However, before she could respond to her, Arthur spoke.
"What? I don't get a greeting?"
Natasha ignored Arthur and did not even acknowledge him; it was rather disrespectful, but it seemed Arthur did not mind it much. In fact, he was smiling.
"You seem rough around the edges."
Her usually serious voice seemed to soften as she spoke; by the look of things, Selina hadn't been getting sleep, and not only that, but she seemed depressed.
"Hey Tasha, how would you feel if I told you a person killed themselves because of me?"
"Exactly as I feel right now because that didn't happen."
"No Tasha listen I did something like that, I told-
"He isn't dead, he is in the hospital right now."
"Huh?"
...…
"So, you died right on this bed?"
Leon asked the floating transparent man who seemed to wander in the room out of boredom.
"Yeah"
"Then you must have some regrets regarding this hospital; otherwise, why would you even be lingering here."
He stated most undead spirits, like ghosts or poltergeists, often have unfinished business with the location they are haunting and cannot be put to rest until that business is finished or until an exorcist shows up.
"To an extent, I have some unfinished business, but it's nothing that deep."
"hmm"
Was his reply to the ghost, he really wasn't interested, the city was filled with spirits like the ghost in front of him and he wasn't an exorcist so he didn't care nor was it his job though he could exorcise the ghost if he wanted, the only reason he exorcised the cursed spirits near his campus was that they were near his campus so he needed to deal with them plus he was free.
"You aren't gonna ask what it is?"
The ghost asked seemingly eager to divulge information about itself or perhaps it was the fact no one has been able to see him ever since he became a ghost, though there was that one kid a year ago that could see him but no nobody believed him when he said there was an old man in the room with him, poor kid was probably sent to an insane Asylum.
"No"
He wasn't interested in the story of some dead spirit; in fact, he had half the mind to exorcise the thing.
As he sat there on the hospital bed, bored out of his mind, he could hear faint, hurried footsteps and what he assumed was a person trying to calm down another. The door was flung open with great force, startling him a little and causing him to put up his fists.
"YOU ASSHOLE!!!"
It was the beautiful blonde Selina with her sky-blue eyes, and she seemed pissed.
"Oh Selina, how have you been?"
He asked casually; despite her frowning face and angry scowl, he could still admire her beauty; her violent nature was kind of hot if he were, to be honest. It wasn't hot in the sense of 'step on me mommy' but more in the sense of 'I want her to call me daddy.'
There was something about defiant women that made him want to see them submissive, or rather, he wanted to see their gap moe in bed; it was a weird fetish.
"I'll fucking kill you!."
She lunged at him, grasping his shoulders, and then aggressively shook him as she yelled.
"You piece of shit! Do you have any idea how guilty I felt for the past 3 days? I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat. Meanwhile, you're here alive and well, and you're so gonna pay for that!!!"
Natasha stepped in and pulled her away from him and tried to calm her down. Of course, having never gone to the gym for anything other than to lose weight, Natasha struggled to hold Selina, who regularly lifted weights. Thankfully, Selina did calm down. Without much struggle.
After recovering from being shaken so furiously, Leon adjusted himself and cleared his throat.
"Well, since I jumped off a cliff for you, you know what that means Don't you?"
There was a brief silence as she processed his words; her eyes gradually opened wide, threatening to pop out of their sockets as realization hit her square in the jaw.
" ehem! 'If you survive, I'll marry you' I believe those were your exact words."
