Chapter twelve : "A True Noble"

After the old Elias finished his talk, Nevales sat in silence, immersed in his thoughts. For some reason, the old man did not interrupt him and let him go, but after a while, he realized that he was so deep in his inner mind that he completely forgot where he was. He was not like himself at that moment; his mind became Mired in questions that he had never faced before.

He apologized to the old man for his distraction and rushed off, as his mind was preoccupied with many things that were fighting within him. Those moments had set off many unanswered questions. How can those nobles, who at first seemed to be role models of honour and justice, be reduced to mere instruments of corruption?

As soon as he arrives at the inn, Nevales goes straight to his room. He closed the door behind him, then threw his body onto an old wooden chair, paying no attention to his cleanliness or condition. His mind was completely elsewhere, caught in a vortex of intertwined ideas. Now he wondered about everything: about the nobles, about the responsibility he had always thought to be the essence of the nobles, about the notions of honor on which he had grown up. Have these ideas been deceptive all along? What do I do now? He mumbled to himself softly, while confusion crept into his tone. Those words echoed his deep disappointment.

The plan was clear in his mind until recently: to train for several months, then go to test knights in a noble family, and later rise to office. But after what happened today, after the words he heard from the old man, his plan is like dust in the wind. He is no longer sure whether he wants to be reunited with these "nobles ".

No, they didn't deserve to be called nobles in the first place.

Nevalis pressed his teeth with indignation, and cursed under his breath: "Those bastards... Who do they think they are? They tarnished the noble title!" His words were full of contempt and disgust. Every word was like stabbing his heart, because he believed that nobles held the banner of honour and responsibility in the world.

But these, he saw, were nothing more than animals disguised as nobles.

His tone was full of anger, and his heart was pumping fast beats of betrayal. How can those who boast of the title of nobility pollute this concept? They spoke of money and power as the essence of life, controlling everything around them without looking at the standards that were thought to be the highest in existence. "They have polluted the noble image in my mind!" Nevalis cheered as he hit the desktop with his fist, his eyes blazing with rage. "Those who think that money and power are everything! Where's the responsibility? Where's the honor? Where's that nobleman I read about in the books?"

His disappointment grew with every moment he thought of them. He no longer sees them as anything worthy of respect. To him, nobles were always a symbol of responsibility, justice, and honor. Now, they have become instruments of corruption, a source of injustice in this sick world. Their images formed in his mind like endless serial nightmares.Despite that deep shock, he slowly raised his head, and his face began to show determination and tenacity. "But I'm not giving up my title... I'll never be like them. I'll be a real nobleman! More noble than all the nobles who have passed through this world!" These were his internal declarations, that he would not allow this corruption to change it or hinder its goals. Would not have consented to be part of this pollution.Suddenly, Nevalis stood on the chair and, with calm determination, pulled the chair toward the desk. He pulled out of his ring some of the paper and pens he had kept thanks to Edward. He couldn't stop a faint smile from appearing on his lips. This ring had all the tools he needed in those moments to record his ideas and plans. "That old man... He thought of everything." He whispered to himself as he began to outline a new plan in his mind.Inside the ring, there was everything he might need; From weapons, to pens and paper, to battle armor and most importantly, a lot of money. Nevalis sat in a chair, held a pen, and began to plan for the future. An hour later, Nevalis finished writing his plans for the future. His mind was still preoccupied with everything he wrote, but he felt a bit of relief after putting his thoughts on paper. These steps were a new map for him, a map that would lead him to his future as "true nobleman" in the full sense of the word.As soon as he finished, he went down to the restaurant at the inn, which was a little bit of modest space. The walls were old, unpolished wooden tables, and some of them bore traces of continued use. The light was dim, reflecting a calm, simple atmosphere. It looked very different from the luxurious places he used to have in luxurious palaces, but he now saw him as more honest about presenting life as it is.Nevalis asked the waiter, "Bring me your best dishes." He doesn't care much about food anymore; What he cared about now was eating something to fill his stomach and give him time to think. The waiter came back shortly, carrying a simple plate. It consisted of warm vegetable soup with pieces of potatoes and carrots, traditionally prepared using ingredients available in the area. Next to her was a small rustic toast served lightly, slightly dry but enough to satisfy hunger. Nothing special or lavish, but it tasted right, and the ingredients were fresh enough.Nevalis felt that the food was not bad, but rather suitable for this poor region. The dishes he was used to in his palace were not rich in spices and meat, but they were sufficient to satisfy his hunger. He finished his food quickly, and then looked at the waiter who came back after he had finished. He looked at him for several seconds, wondering why he had come. He forgot for a moment that he had to pay for the food, and after he remembered that he had to pay, he paid for the food, which was just a few silverware. Nevalis was surprised, as the price was very low compared to the quality of the food, but he understood that in this area, life was less luxurious than he knew.Nevalis leaves the inn, His next destination was old man Elias 'house. , After all, That's where his first plans begin.
