The Price of FreedomThe Hospital’s Final Offer

At this point, the hospital executives had accepted one brutal reality.

Lin Kai and Su Yan weren't employees.

They were phenomena.

They couldn't be controlled.

They couldn't be tied down.

And if pushed too hard—they'd leave.

But this hospital needed them.

So, after multiple meetings, arguments, and sleepless nights, the board came up with a new plan.

The Deal

Lin Kai's contract would remain temporary.

No permanent obligations. No administrative responsibilities. But—his contract payment would be increased by tenfold.

Su Yan would receive an "Honorary Consultant" title.

No official working hours. No pay. (Not that she needed it.)BUT—she would be issued a white coat and granted unrestricted access to the OR.

In simple terms:

Lin Kai got a fortune just to stay. Su Yan got a title and free access just to exist.

And, at long last—

They accepted.

The Hospital Reacts

The moment word got out, the entire hospital exploded into gossip.

Doctors' Lounge

Evans nearly spat out his coffee. "They gave him ten times his original contract?"

Wallace laughed. "They panicked."

Patel exhaled. "I can't even be mad. They're worth it."

Monroe, reading the final contract, smirked. "I love that they didn't even argue about the money. Just the freedom."

Hayworth, arms crossed, sighed. "They forced us to rewrite the rules of hospital employment."

Evans chuckled. "And they didn't even try."

Silence.

Then Wallace, sipping his drink, mused, "I wonder what Su Yan thinks of her honorary position?"

Meanwhile, Su Yan…

Su Yan stood in front of a mirror, adjusting the crisp, brand-new white coat draped over her shoulders.

Lin Kai leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, amused.

"How does it feel?"

Su Yan turned, grinning. "Like I just scammed an entire hospital into giving me VIP access."

Lin Kai chuckled. "You kind of did."

She smoothed out the coat, completely pleased. "I like it. It makes me look even more untouchable."

Lin Kai smirked. "You were already untouchable."

She shot him a wink. "Now I just have the uniform to prove it."

And with that, the two of them walked back into the hospital—

Completely unstoppable.
