A New Day at the Hospital
The hospital had finally adjusted to its two most unpredictable non-employees.
Lin Kai: The highest-paid temporary surgeon in history. Su Yan: The honorary consultant who never had to show up—but still did, just for fun.
And today?
Today, Su Yan was bored.
So, naturally, she decided to wander into the hospital, wearing her brand-new white coat, looking absolutely unbothered.
She didn't carry a clipboard.
She didn't hurry like the other doctors.
She just walked—leisurely, sipping a bubble tea.
And that's when it happened.
The Internal Medicine Doctor Who Chose the Wrong Target
Dr. Gregory Mills (Internal Medicine Attending) had been having a stressful morning.
His team of interns was painfully slow. The nurses kept ignoring his authority. He was already behind schedule.
And then—he saw her.
A young woman in a white coat, walking lazily through the hallway, bubble tea in one hand, phone in the other.
No clipboard. No urgency. No respect for the job.
Dr. Mills immediately saw red.
"You there!" he snapped.
Su Yan blinked. Then slowly turned her head, looking like she had just been woken up from a nap.
Mills stormed over. "You're an intern, aren't you?"
Su Yan tilted her head. "Nope."
Mills ignored her answer. "Who's your supervisor? Which rotation are you on?"
Su Yan sipped her bubble tea. "I'm not on a rotation."
Mills folded his arms. "Then why are you walking around wasting time?"
She took another very slow sip. "Because I can."
The Interns Watch the Disaster Unfold
A group of actual interns standing nearby had already recognized Su Yan.
Jason, the intern from the OR, immediately panicked.
"Oh no."
Sarah, his fellow intern, whispered. "Does Dr. Mills not know?"
David, the third intern, swallowed. "He definitely doesn't know."
Mills, still oblivious to the incoming disaster, scoffed. "Listen here, intern. If you have time to wander around drinking bubble tea, you have time to follow my rounds."
Su Yan blinked. "Follow you?"
Mills crossed his arms. "Yes. You can learn something."
Jason looked ready to scream.
Sarah mouthed the words, "He's dead."
Su Yan Decides to Play Along
For a moment, Su Yan just stared at Dr. Mills.
Then, she grinned.
"Sure. I'd love to learn."
Jason nearly choked.
Sarah grabbed his arm. "Oh my god, she's playing with him."
Mills, still thinking he was in charge, smirked. "Good. Try to keep up."
And just like that—Su Yan joined his rounds.
With absolutely no intention of staying quiet.
The First Patient: Mills Digs His Own Grave
They arrived at the first patient, a middle-aged man complaining of persistent dizziness.
Mills grabbed the chart. "Alright, intern. Based on the symptoms, what's your differential diagnosis?"
Su Yan didn't even glance at the chart.
"He has vertebral artery dissection. He needs a CT angiogram."
Silence.
Mills blinked. "Excuse me?"
Su Yan yawned. "You heard me."
Mills scoffed. "That's a highly specific diagnosis based on zero examination. He probably just has benign positional vertigo."
Su Yan just smiled. "Wanna bet?"
Jason, Sarah, and David stared in horror.
"She just challenged an attending." Jason whispered.
Mills smirked. "Fine. Let's see who's right."
The Results Come In
Twenty minutes later.
The CT angiogram results arrived.
And guess what?
The patient had vertebral artery dissection. Exactly like Su Yan said.
Mills went completely silent.
Su Yan sipped her bubble tea. "Huh. Would you look at that."
Jason, Sarah, and David silently stepped back—watching a man's soul leave his body.
Mills, face slightly pale, coughed. "That… that was lucky."
Su Yan grinned. "Really? Let's try another one."
The Second Patient: Mills' Second Death
Next patient.
This time, a young woman complaining of fatigue, weight gain, and depression.
Mills, desperate to recover, confidently announced, "She has hypothyroidism."
Su Yan?
Didn't even pause.
"Nope. She has Cushing's syndrome. You should check her cortisol levels."
Mills froze.
Jason, Sarah, and David held their breath.
Mills, with forced confidence, ordered the test.
Twenty minutes later, the cortisol results came back.
High. Extremely high.
Cushing's syndrome.
Mills' hands were shaking.
Sarah whispered, "Oh my god."
Su Yan, still looking completely entertained, tapped her chin.
"That's two for two. Want to try again?"
Mills turned and left the room.
He didn't come back.
The Entire Hospital Finds Out
By the end of the day, everyone knew.
A new rumor had spread like wildfire.
An "intern" had completely destroyed an attending on morning rounds.
And the best part?
She wasn't even an intern.
Wallace burst into laughter. "He picked a fight with Su Yan? What an idiot."
Evans sighed. "Is he taking leave?"
Patel nodded. "Indefinite leave."
Monroe chuckled. "I give it two days before he finds out who she really is."
Jason, still in shock, whispered, "She's terrifying."
Sarah nodded. "Yeah."
David sighed. "I think I'm in love."
Meanwhile, Su Yan…
Later that night, Lin Kai found Su Yan lounging on the couch, texting.
He raised an eyebrow. "What did you do today?"
Su Yan smiled. "Nothing much. Just taught a doctor a lesson."
Lin Kai smirked. "Are they still employed?"
Su Yan shrugged. "For now."
Then she grinned.
"But I'm sure I'll find someone else to play with tomorrow."
And just like that, another legendary day at the hospital came to an end.
