The Battle for New Equipment

Hospital Executive Boardroom

For once, the hospital executives, department heads, and senior specialists had gathered for a reason that did not involve Su Yan or Lin Kai.

Today's topic?

New medical equipment procurement.

And, naturally—this meant chaos.

The Participants

Dr. Henry Caldwell (Chief Medical Officer, CMO) – The one trying to keep this meeting civilized.

Dr. Elizabeth Monroe (Director of Medicine) – The one keeping Caldwell sane.

Dr. Linda Hayworth (Head of Surgery) – The one who wants a bigger surgery budget.

Richard Martin (Head of Administration) – The one who controls the money and hates spending it.

Dr. Wallace (Cardiothoracic Consultant) – The one who wants the most expensive new toys.

Dr. Evans (General Surgeon) – The realist who just wants working equipment.

Dr. Patel (Senior Neurologist) – The one who wants more imaging tech.

Dr. Carter (Pediatrics Consultant) – The one still wearing emotional scars from the "Princess Tiara Incident."

Dr. Miller (Anesthesiologist) – The one who only speaks when absolutely necessary.

Dr. Rhodes (Junior Surgeon) – The one just trying to survive.

And, for some reason—

Su Yan was here.

Dr. Lin Kai was not.

Which meant—this was about to get interesting.

The Meeting Begins

Caldwell sighed deeply. "Alright, let's get this over with. Department heads, submit your equipment requests."

Monroe passed out thick binders. "We've pre-screened options based on necessity and budget limits."

Martin scoffed. "Necessity? Every department thinks they need everything."

Wallace smirked. "Because we do."

Martin groaned. "I hate all of you."

And just like that, the war began.

Round 1: The Surgical Department vs. Budget Control

Hayworth, as always, went first.

"We need an additional Da Vinci robotic surgical system."

Martin's eye twitched. "Do you know how much that costs?"

Wallace grinned. "It's only three million dollars."

Martin looked ready to faint. "ONLY?"

Evans sighed. "Honestly, we just need working laparoscopic instruments. Half of them are outdated."

Patel added, "And neurosurgery needs an upgraded intraoperative MRI. Our current one is a decade old."

Martin looked close to a breakdown. "You all want millions in new toys. We have a budget."

Wallace leaned back. "Then increase the budget."

Martin groaned. "Why am I here?"

Round 2: The Pediatric Department Joins the Battle

Dr. Carter, still recovering from recent Su Yan trauma, cleared his throat.

"Pediatrics needs updated neonatal ventilators."

Martin nodded. "Reasonable request. Approved."

Carter blinked. "Wait, really?"

Martin sighed. "Because you didn't ask for a ten-million-dollar robotic system."

Wallace smirked. "Not yet."

Carter immediately shut up.

Round 3: Radiology and Neurology vs. Everyone Else

Dr. Patel was next.

"We need a next-gen CT scanner."

Martin groaned. "Of course you do."

Monroe raised an eyebrow. "Our current model is unreliable."

Martin sighed. "Fine. But I'm cutting funds from somewhere else."

Hayworth glared. "Not surgery."

Patel smirked. "Definitely not neurology."

Carter muttered, "Can't be Paediatrics."

Evans muttered, "Definitely should be Administration."

Martin slammed his folder shut. "I quit."

The Wild Card: Su Yan Speaks

At this point, everyone had argued their case.

And that's when Su Yan casually spoke up.

"I have a request."

Silence.

Everyone slowly turned to her.

Caldwell sighed. "You don't even work here."

Su Yan sipped her drink. "I have privileges."

Martin rubbed his temples. "What do you want?"

Su Yan grinned. "A hospital café that serves bubble tea."

The room exploded.

The Aftermath

Caldwell: "Absolutely not."

Monroe: "Why are you here?"

Hayworth: "This isn't a joke."

Wallace: "…Actually, that's not a bad idea."

Evans: "I could use a better coffee selection."

Patel: "Bubble tea is good."

Carter: "I refuse to support this."

Miller: "…I don't mind bubble tea."

Su Yan smiled innocently. "See? It's popular."

Martin was done. "I will fund NOTHING for bubble tea."

Su Yan shrugged. "Alright. But if I diagnose another aneurysm in the lobby, I'm charging a consultation fee."

Silence.

Martin's face went pale.

Caldwell sighed deeply. "Fine. A small café. But if anyone asks, this was a necessary expenditure."

Su Yan beamed. "Pleasure doing business."

Final Results

Surgery got their equipment (minus one Da Vinci robot).

Pediatrics got their ventilators. Neurology got a new CT scanner. Su Yan got her bubble tea café.

Martin lost the last of his sanity.

And once again—Su Yan walked out of the hospital like she had just won a corporate battle.

Lin Kai met her outside, raising an eyebrow.

"How bad was the meeting?"

Su Yan grinned.

"We got bubble tea."

Lin Kai chuckled. "Of course we did."

And with that—another completely ridiculous hospital meeting came to an end.

If there was one place where hospital drama spread at light speed, it was the nurses' station.

And right now?

The only topic of conversation was the absolute disaster of a budget meeting.

The Nurses React

Nurse Lisa (Receptionist): "I just heard something INSANE."

Nurse Amy (ER Nurse): "You mean the part where Su Yan somehow convinced the hospital to fund a bubble tea café?"

Nurse Megan (Surgical Nurse): "Or the part where the department heads actually argued over it like it was real medical equipment?"

Nurse Julia (OR Scrub Nurse): "No, no, no. The best part was Martin losing his mind."

Lisa clutched her chest, gasping for air. "Guys, I heard he actually THREATENED TO QUIT."

Amy wheezed. "And no one stopped him."

Megan snorted. "Dr. Wallace literally told him, 'See you tomorrow.'"

Julia collapsed onto the counter, crying from laughter. "AND NOW WE GET BUBBLE TEA!"

Meanwhile, in the Break Room…

The intern trio (Jason, Sarah, and David) had just finished a brutal shift and were catching up on the latest hospital gossip.

Jason: "…She actually got them to approve it?"

Sarah: "She wasn't even supposed to be at the meeting!"

David: "I need to know—HOW did she do it?"

Amy wiped away tears. "Apparently, she just… threatened to start charging consultation fees for her 'mystic diagnoses.'"

Jason stared. "…And it WORKED?"

Megan nodded. "Martin folded IMMEDIATELY."

Sarah covered her face. "This is the greatest day of my life."

David sighed dreamily. "I love her."

Jason looked at him. "…You need therapy."

The Legend Spreads

By the end of the day, the entire hospital had accepted three universal truths:

Lin Kai was an unstoppable surgical god.Su Yan was a chaotic force of nature. They would all soon have access to premium bubble tea.

And that?

Was a victory for everyone.

Meanwhile, Su Yan…

Su Yan stretched lazily, walking out of the hospital with Lin Kai.

He smirked. "So, what's next?"

She grinned. "I don't know… but I'm sure someone's going to do something stupid tomorrow."

Lin Kai chuckled. "And you'll be there to mess with them?"

She winked. "Obviously."

Because in this hospital?

There was never a dull moment.
