The Commander Has a Request

It only took three days for Irene to adjust to the schedule of going into the foothills at night. It would be her regular schedule for the next three weeks, Felix had assured her.

As she sat atop her horse at the bottom of the ancient wall segment, her eyes scanned the lands that were lit up by a crescent moon.

"I'm going to go further north!" she called to the apprentices sitting atop the wall. "You know what to do if you see something."

They would have to shoot a fire arrow into the grass. It wasn't too wet of a night, so she hoped that it would light easily. If not, she was keeping a keen eye out and would likely see the arc of a fire arrow before it touched the ground.
