Chapter 21: No More Running

The safehouse was silent except for the hum of Maya's laptop. The glow from the screen cast eerie shadows across the concrete walls, illuminating the grim reality staring them in the face.

Their names were on the list. They were dead men walking.

Ellie leaned against the table, arms crossed, her jaw tight. "So, what's the move? Because I'm getting real tired of playing defense."

Alex ran a hand through his hair, his mind racing. They had spent too much time running, dodging bullets, and escaping by the skin of their teeth. That ended now.

"We take the fight to them," he said.

Maya let out a low whistle. "Damn. Thought I'd never hear you say that."

Ellie smirked. "About time."

Alex grabbed a duffel bag from under the couch, unzipping it to reveal an arsenal—guns, ammo, explosives. They had prepared for this moment, even if they hadn't realized it at the time.

"We hit them where it hurts," Alex continued. "This list? It's proof. But it's also a map. Black Sun has bases, assets, people they rely on. We start cutting them down, piece by piece."

Maya's fingers danced over the keyboard. "I can scrub us from their databases, make it harder for them to track us. But it won't last forever."

"It doesn't need to," Alex said. "Just long enough to get the job done."

Ellie's eyes gleamed with something dangerous. "Where do we start?"

Maya turned the laptop toward them, a building schematic filling the screen. "Bishop's last known hideout. If he's still alive, he'll have intel on Black Sun's command structure."

Alex nodded. "Then we find him."

Maya smirked. "And if he's dead?"

Ellie cracked her knuckles. "Then we burn the whole damn place down."

The Setup

Three hours later, they were on the move.

Dressed in tactical gear, they blended into the night, moving like shadows through the city. Bishop's hideout was located in an abandoned high-rise, deep in the industrial district. No cameras. No cops. Just darkness and silence.

Alex checked his watch. "We move fast. In and out."

Maya adjusted her earpiece. "COMM's are live. I'll be your eyes from here."

Ellie slid her pistol into her holster. "Let's go hunting."

They moved in, weapons raised, ready for whatever lay ahead.

The war had just begun.
