Silence filled the room. Then, a loud laughter broke out. As if to mock me like I just asked something ridiculous. I turn my head to the source of the laughter. The person I saw a few days ago approach me as she finish her laughs. I finally got to know her gender after the library called her 'little girl'.
"I have never heard something so ridiculous. Any book that go out of the library will turn black. Moreover, it's not just any book but your book at that. Do you wish to die?"
Her point is straight and sharp. I couldn't say anything back. I didn't think about what would happen if the book from the library stay away from it. I should have known that there will be consequences since it wasn't a normal book.
"Don't make such a face. You should be relieved that the book couldn't be bring to the outside world. That means outsider couldn't steal any of the book here. Even I couldn't see all of the contents in your book.
I was only allowed to see what the library allows me to see otherwise I could only see a blank page. The library was never meant to harm anyone. It was a very knowledgeable being but it has too many restrictions on it."
"That means the library couldn't possibly be God either," I mumble.
"Yes. That's why we need your help. You need to save that world from being consumed completely by the darkness. Don't worry, the world itself will reward you for your hard work. You only need to make a deal with it."
"I keep hearing about making deals with the world. But how is it, exactly?" I start to get annoyed by the long explaining instead of just straight to the point.
She snapped and the book appears. She handed the book to me. "Say your name and state your purpose to the book. Then says its title."
"I, Arluna Valerie, am here to make a deal with 'The Record of the World'." The book in my hand lights up and begin to open on its own. The letters float to form a word, then it turns into a long sentence.
[The Record of the World is responding to Arluna Valerie. What is your condition?]
"I will save your world. In return, allow me to bring a couple of people from your world with me." This is what I decided to ask. It shouldn't be easy to save a world. By the time I managed to save it, I should have become close to the people in that world. I thought I should bring them with me if they are willing.
[The Record of the World thinks it will be a bit troublesome if the strong people in the world decrease. You can only bring the Grade 2 ability users with you.]
"I will make sure to completely restore the landscape of the world without using any of your resources. Allow me to bring ten Grade 1 ability users."
[The Record of the World agreed with your condition.]
The words light up and wrap around my wrist. I can feel immense power in it, as if it would crush me to death if I don't fulfill my end of the deal. The process was more simpler than I thought.
Thank goodness, I don't have to read any complicated spells or mantra. I look up and almost catch myself off guard by an object flying straight to my face.
"What is this?" I ask as I managed to catch it.
"It's a mask. Try it on."
The mask was made from a very soft material. It was quite stretchy and couldn't be break even by my strength. I wear it on my face and I can immediately feel the change in myself. She bring a mirror close to me.
I am surprised by my reflection in the mirror. My hair that has gone white turned back to its original color. My expression has also become more expressive instead of looking like a lifeless zombie. I try to smile and my smile was easily shown on my face.
"You look better. Now you can seduce all the guys in the world without much effort," her teasing tone earns a glare from me. Then I give her a small smile as a thank you.
I turn back to the book in my hand. A question has been floated in front of me since earlier. It was coming from the book.
[Would you like to enter?]
"Yes."
. . . . .
The first thing that greet my eyes is a grey ceiling. I assume that I am currently inside of a building. I get up to inspect if there's any damage to my body. Thankfully, I am fine probably because I got teleported here and not fall from the sky.
The building isn't in a good state. The rocks and dusts fall from the ceiling every so often, which is telling me that it's barely holding on. I also didn't feel any life forms in this building, so I decided to quickly get out of here. It doesn't take long for me to reach the exit.
The sky outside was bright, which means it's still noon. I could hear the sound of monsters all around me. There are many of them but they aren't strong. I walk toward those monsters. Coincidentally, I need an exercise after my recovery so these monsters will be perfect for that.
A monster with three eyes and a body of a wolf noticed my presence. It quickly pounce towards me with it's jaw open, only for it to meet with my fist and fly away. Other monsters begin to attack me as they heard the commotion.
"This will get quite bloody," I mumble as I take out a knife out of my pocket. I got it from the person whom I don't know her name yet.
I stab the knife into one of the monsters eyes while kicking the monsters coming to my left. Then I grab the knife to completely severed the monsters' head. An insect-like monster spit out a poisonous gas toward me but I pay it no mind. Instead, I drag the monsters to where the poisonous gas concentrate and they instantly die.
"Show yourself!" I call out after I'm done with taking care of the monsters. I have already felt the presence of some humans the moment I got out of the building. But I want to take care of the monsters first so I ignore them.
A few people showed themselves to me while some people choose to hide. Many of them look at me in shock and amazement. One of them open their mouth to speak.
"S-such strength... Are you one of those that have awaken?" I frown at the question. Not only that, the admiration visible in his voice also give me a bad feeling. Ability users shouldn't be uncommon by now. Unless...
"What time is this?" I answer him with a question of my own.
"Huh?"
"How many days has passed since the world becomes like this?" I impatiently ask again. I can already feel my heart beating fast.
"U-um... " the man begin to stutter. Before I could get even more annoyed, a woman answers in his stead.
"It has been six months since the monsters started to pouring out of nowhere," she calmly speak.
"Three months?" But the moment the page starts to turned black was when the world has faced the cataclysm for at least five years. Does that mean I got transferred to the start of the novel? Thinking that, I feel like to curse out loud.
'Damn it. It has to be one of the most difficult moment in the novel. Why it has to be the start of the apocalypse?!'
