Night of the Massacre

Seeing that he had levelled up Roman popped up his status screen to see what had happened as the system had told him that every level up would give him more stats at E rank compared to F rank.

Roman was shocked to say the least at how much stat points he had gotten from a single level.

'System do all rank E creatures get twenty stat points each level or what?'

[No, the majority of E rank creatures get ten stat points each level and only very special or rare E rank creatures would get more then that and the Graveborn Skeleton is both very rare and very special, I would say that twenty stat points is the maximum an E rank could get every level.]

'Ah, I see, hearing that im practically at the peak of what an E rank can get is pleasing to hear.'

Roman mused that he should spend his stat points immediately since he was going to massacre all the goblins and any additional strength would be helpful. He chose to put all twenty stat points into magic as he determined that magic would be the most useful stat for his current self.

[Stat points: 20 --> 0]

[Magic: 30 --> 50 (6 --> 10) {1}]

A powerful rush of energy barreled into Roman's body but most prominently his chest, it continued that way for a few seconds before slowly stoping he felt his power increase by leaps and bounds.

The change was truely vast.

Roman reveled in his new strength before focusing back on the situation at hand, now that he had exterminated the guards, he could do what he planned intially to the gate.

Roman walked to the gate and placed his skeletal hand on it. He focused and continously pushed ice magic out his hand, but he concentrated most of the ice around the gate's hinges and its locks. By the time he was finished, large and dense ice was encapsulated around the gate's hinges and locks where the puny weak goblins would have to struggle intensly for hours on end to break the ice and open the gate.

Yes, this was Roman's plan, he would freeze both the village's gates thoroughly so no goblins would escape him.

However Roman had only frozen one gate so he nimbly made his way through the village until he had arrived at the back gate. Just like the front gate there was twelfth goblins spread into groups of four patrolling the area.

With his improved magic stat Roman felt that a new method to kill the guards all instantly had emerged.

He extended both his hands into the sky and visualised many icicles forming in the sky above the unaware goblins. Roman's hands started shaking as he had severely underestimated how much concentration was need to form countless icicles in the sky yet nonetheless he persevered.

When he sensed enough icicles had formed he dragged his hands down and the icicles followed suit hurling down onto the oblivious guards.

Each guard was stabbed numerous times by the vicious icicles dying immediately.

The mechanical whispers of the system improved Roman's slightly fatigued mind, he always enjoyed hearing it list out his achievement of extinguishing a living being's life.

He deftly made his way through the corpses strewn around the gate and did the same thing he had done on the first gate, freezing its hinges and locks in extremely thick ice.

Roman checked his mana pool and saw he only had around fifty percent remaining after killing both set of guards and freezing both gates. Thankfully because it was currently the middle of night his mana recovered slightly faster then usual due to his lesser darkness affinity.

He chose to rest for a while to get back into top performance for the upcoming murder spree he would do. Roman didn't worry about the ice melting anytime soon as due to its magical nature and its sheer size and density it would take at least a week for it to melt naturally.

The purple-white skeleton sat cross-legged and focused on getting both his mind and mana to its maximum state. The gentle whistling of the frigid winds accompanied his solitary figure, alone amidst numerous corpses. This strangely terrifying yet tranquil sight persisted for an hour. Just as Roman's mana pool neared its full capacity, an ear-splitting roar echoed throughout the village, yet this wasn't the cry of a beast, it was the blast of a horn.

Roman immediately stood up, he knew what this sound meant, all the patrolling goblins had a horn strapped to their sides and if they encountered something that might mean the endangerment of the village they would blow the horn. His mind went through a million possiblities and swiftly found the most probable situation that made one of the goblins blow the horn.

'They had stumbled across the dead patrollies around the front gate, ugh the possiblity that their corpses could be discovered was a glaring flaw in my plan yet I completely overlooked it.'

[Host do not put yourself down. This is a common mistake people commit when forming a plan: they focus on the big problems whilst the small yet important problems go unoticed.]

'That's true, it's just frustrating as now the goblins can prepare for my attack, but I shouldn't cry over spilled milk; I simply need to adjust my plan to the circumstances I've been put in!'
