15. Innate Spell- Sleep

Jion sits cross-leg on his bed with his familiar owl on his lap. He caresses the owl and with his familiar bond senses the owl.

His familiar is absorbing the energy from the fairy tear. Totem suddenly changed his decision and told him through voice transmission to use the three fairy tears on his familiar.

And for him to quickly advance to the Great Shaman realm and the surprising news that not only the Spring Fairy tribe is destroyed by the Snake tribe but also the Wild Cat tribe was destroyed by them a week ago.

So, thinking of all this his mind went to the meeting that was held with the important members of the tribe.

Yesterday after he received three Fairy tears from Seamus for the totem.

When he presented it to the totem, He received voice transmission from the totem to keep it with him, when it's needed the totem will inform him.

So, the day went by taking care of the new members and discussing the outsiders and the snake tribe's aggression.

Their tribe alone was not an opponent of the Snake tribe in the past but now the Snake tribe colluded with an outside force.

So to do anything to curb the aggression of the Snake tribe or to chase away the outsiders from their region.

The help of other tribes is needed and it will be great if they can get help from the Silver Sword town.

So, He and Al decide to hold a meeting and inform Via, Vak, Ajis, and Sorn to come to the place where the tribe eats their food by the tribe's kitchen.

The meeting started after all of them arrived and sat at their table.

Every one of them knows new people for the first time entering their tribe. But it was an order from the totem, so nobody questioned the decision.

But when the new people enter the tribe, they are shaken to learn they are tribe members of the Spring Fairy Tribe.

The Spring Fairy Tribe is no more. They had been destroyed by the Snake Tribe with the help of some unknown Outsiders.

Their tribe also has enmity with the Snake Tribe, the Snake Tribe does not know their tribe location.

But the Snake Tribe knows the area where their tribe is located. And if the Snake Tribe searches carefully they can find their tribe.

Which made their mind filled with worry. Before the Spring Tribe remnants arrive at their tribe they are looking forward to their future.

Their Totem, which they worship for life started communicating with them even if it is only with their elder.

Their Tribe also were rewarded by the totem for their devotion of centuries toward the totem. The reward was a method to advance to the Great Shaman Realm.

They were looking forward to the future, where they would be able to hunt more beasts even Magic and Feral beasts.

With abundant resources, they can acquire the practice method to the Spirit Blood realm and increase the strength of their tribe.

But the news of the Spring Rain Tribe being destroyed by the Snake Tribe pours cold water on their future dream waking them up.

So, in the meeting, they decided to inform all the tribes in the region with Seamus about the Snake Tribe colluding with outsiders to destroy the Spring Fairy Tribe.

It would have not mattered if the Snake Tribe destroyed the Spring Fairy Tribe alone but they colluded with outsiders.

Which is a taboo among all the tribes of their race.

So, today they decided to inform the tribes present around the Snake Tribe. So, they must be aware of the Snake Tribe, and take measures to protect themselves.

He, Al, Seamus, and some other tribe members were going to inform them today they decided yesterday.

But a few hours from dawn, when they were ready to head out and even reach the entrance of the passage.

With only a few steps ahead he would have walked out of the valley, that's when he received the voice transmission from the totem telling him that Wild Cat Tribe is also destroyed by the Snake Tribe and with the Outsiders and to him to use the fairy tears on his familiar and quickly advance to the great shaman realm.

When he came to his senses after receiving the voice transmission, he found his tribe members and Seamus watching him.

Seamus is not aware why he stopped suddenly while walking and stood still like a statue for a few seconds.

But his tribe members are aware and why?

So, Al asked him, "What message did I receive from their totem?"

He then informs about the destruction of the Wild Cat tribe by the Snake Tribe with the Outsiders a week ago and tells him to quickly advance to the Great Shaman realm.

Everyone present was shocked and an urgency took over them to quickly inform the tribes near the Snake tribe. So, that they can take precautions.

Before they can go on their journey again, Al stops and turns around to face him telling him to return to the tribe and use the fairy tears on their own. So, that it can awaken its innate spell and he quickly comprehends the innate spell.

And advance to the Great Shaman Realm.

He also thought if he became a Great Shaman then it would be easier to get the other tribes on board with their plan of destroying the Snake Tribe or expelling or destroying the outsiders too.

So, he walked back to his home and sat crossed legs on his bed.

He then held his familiar on his lap and fed the familiar a fairy tear. Which looks like a golden crystal.

And now he is waiting for his familiar to awaken his innate spell.

As time passes, his familiar starts to heat up and he hears the sound of the heartbeat of his familiar.

And from the familiar seal, he sense his familiar started to awaken his blood. He starts to caress the wings of his familiar to cool down his familiar mind.

After about an hour, the body of his familiar began to cool, and a wave of joy radiated from the creature.

A smile crossed his mind as he closed his eyes. Through the familiar seal, he entered the sea of consciousness of his companion and spotted the golden spell runes glowing at the center of the familiar's sea of consciousness.

Moments later, he noticed the golden spell rune begin to shine even brighter, and an overwhelming drowsiness swept over him. Unable to resist, he succumbed to the pull of sleep.

Meanwhile, Gavin remained fully alert within his seal space, monitoring the elder through his spirit field.

From the very moment the elder fed the owl—a fairy tear—Gavin hadn't looked away. He kept his attention sharp, noticing every fluctuation of magic energy surrounding the owl. When the elder fell asleep, Gavin immediately made the connection.

He muttered to himself, "The innate spell the owl has awakened is related to sleep."

Though not a combat spell, it could serve well for infiltration. Yet for the elder, combat utility was secondary. His priority now was to quickly advance to the Great Shaman realm, where he would gain access to a greater repertoire of spells.

With a firm resolve, Gavin sent a loud voice transmission to the elder, jolting him awake.

The elder stirred, startled, and asked, "Totem, did you need something?"

Gavin replied, "Not for me, but you should examine the innate spell your familiar has awakened."

The elder exclaimed in surprise, "Oh!"

Only then did Jion recall the events from moments before, momentarily forgotten in his shock at the Totem's abrupt message.

He turned to find his familiar gazing at him curiously. Through their bond, he realized the cause of his sleep: his familiar's newfound power.

The owl, after awakening its innate spell, had grown curious and decided to test it on him.

The creature knew the spell was harmless and that he would simply fall asleep. When a beast awakens its innate spell, it instinctively learns how the spell functions.

However, Jion felt a twinge of disappointment—it wasn't a combat spell. Sensing his reaction, the owl began protesting, scratching at his thigh with its claws and pecking lightly with its beak.

Through the bond, he could feel the owl's attempts to communicate: it wanted to defend its innate spell, insisting that it wasn't weak.

An image formed in Jion's mind, a vision from the owl's perspective. In the imagined scene, the owl flew silently through the night, scanning for prey. Upon locating its target, it crept closer, gliding soundlessly through the darkness. Then, the owl cast its sleep spell, causing the prey to collapse into slumber. With precision, the owl swooped in, swiftly ending the life of its unsuspecting target.

Jion understood what the owl was trying to convey.

He spent a few moments reflecting, and soon various potential uses for the sleep spell appeared in his mind.

The spell could be an invaluable tool for hunting, interfering with opponents in battle, and even infiltration.

For Jion to advance to the Great Shaman Realm, he needed to transcribe the sleep spell's rune into his own sea of consciousness.

Afterward, he would have to refine the spell, attuning it to his spirit. This synchronization would allow him to draw in spiritual energy, transform it into magic power, and store it within his body.

Once these steps were completed, his advancement to the Great Shaman Realm would happen naturally.

Without wasting time, he focused through the familiar bond to carefully observe the sleep spell rune, analyzing its intricate structure and how to replicate it within his own sea of consciousness.

After a few minutes of studying, he returned to his inner mindscape. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he began the delicate process of drawing the rune in his sea of consciousness.

Precision was critical. Any mistake would remain unnoticed until the rune was fully drawn and activated. If the drawing was incorrect, the spell would fail, forcing him to erase the rune and start over.

But the risks didn't end there. In the worst-case scenario, a flawed rune could trigger a backlash, causing a catastrophic reaction in his sea of consciousness that could destroy him entirely.

Determined to avoid such a fate, he decided to proceed cautiously, stopping to review his work after every few steps.

Spell runes were intricate, made up of countless interconnected lines, and they couldn't be practiced on paper. If they could, he would have rehearsed endlessly beforehand.

With unwavering focus, he began drawing. After completing a few strokes, he paused to inspect his progress. On his third check, he noticed a critical error.

Heart sinking, he began the arduous process of erasing the flawed rune. The moment he started, searing pain tore through his mind, but he gritted his teeth and pushed through, erasing every fragment of the rune until nothing remained.

As the last trace disappeared, the pain slowly receded, leaving behind a dull ache and an oppressive heaviness in his spirit. He realized he would need to rest before attempting to draw the rune again.

Still clutching the owl, he stepped out of his home into the falling snow. The cold air bit at his skin as he walked toward the kitchen.
