Kai left the awakener association and went back to his apartment to sleep. It was already after ten o'clock when he got home after all.
In the morning, Kai went straight to a car lot. Why? The reason for that was simple. Kai didn't like the idea of not having anything that he could sleep inside. Kai had been thinking a lot about what to do if he wanted to actually skip town and never return. This New Dragon city was the place where the academy was and it was one of the richest cities in the Northern Continent country, so Kai could actually buy a wide range of things. The first thing kai wanted was a place to live. He at first he thought it was hopeless, but then he remembered something, and sure enough, he found a car lit that specialized in RV units when he looked. You could criticize Kai for wanting something so strange, but it wasn't like he was planning on showing off his cool new ride or anything. After all, even if a car was powerful, a top notch Awakener was usually faster on foot, as strange as it was.
Kai found a nice and comfortable RV that was basically fresh off of the factory line for fifteen thousand gold. It was comfortable and it came with a host of cool features. It had a mana powered stove, a refrigerator with a freezer attached, a built in microwave, a bed, and the back of the RV was a bathroom with a shower and toilet. The vehicle itself was mana powered, so it could be charged at an outlet at the side with mana in order to drive or power the living functions.
When Kai had finished signing the contract and had paid in full, he suddenly felt very playful. He wasn't going to be talking with people often in the near future, so he directly spoke to the car salesman.
"Hey good sir, since I'm on my way out, make sure to pay attention to the RV as I go. You're about to see a magic trick."
The car salesman was confused.
"What?"
Kai just smiled and walked out of the building and up to the car he'd just bought. Then, he put both of his hands forward. Under the salesman's confused gaze, an invisible ripple like a concentrated heat wave began to appear above the RV until it passed over the car. Under the salesman's astonished gaze, the RV was swallowed by the wave and then the ripples ate up a bit of the gravel layer before they disappeared.
Kai sighed and mentally manipulated all of the floating gravel and dirt in the space to float out of a smaller hole that he made. There was no helping it. Kai's space control was too poor he didn't want to risk cutting the RV's tires apart. Then, he turned back to see the salesman's confused gaze through the glass door of the car lot. Kai smiled and waved goodbye before he walked away. If he had turned back again, he'd have seen the salesman drop his stack of papers by accident.

Kai's next stop was a general store. Kai went in and found all kinds of things. The world's currency here was divided up into 100 copper coins equaling a silver coin, a hundred silvers making up a gold coin, a hundred gold equating to a platinum coin, and a hundred platinum coins adding up to a diamond coin. Of course, coins above gold grade were usually only used by awakeners or people of really high status. This was why when Kai directly began to total up about four platinum coins and fifty gold coins after buying out about half the store's goods, the poor cashier ran away from kai and his ten shopping carts to go get the manager. After all, Kai bought basically quite a bit of everything in the store except non perishable food.
He even rounded up a few nearby shoppers to help him load carts and offered to pay for their groceries if they helped him a bit. In total, Kai bought two magic to electric generators for fifty gold each, beauty products like soap, cotton swabs, razors, deodorant, and more. Kai bought all of the clothes that fit him and several pairs of boots. He bought two high end phones and three laptops, a year long pre paid phone plan card, notebooks, fishing rods, a kayak and paddle, and several other useful things for outdoors activity.
If he compared his actions to his previous life, it was like a celebrity who came to show off that they were "like normal people" by going in and sweeping through a store followed by a camera crew right before a supposed three month camping trip.
On Kai's end, instead of a camera crew and passing fans, he got a bunch of stares as if he were an idiot and a couple of temporary minions who were happy to swagger up to the checkout line behind him with oversuffed shopping carts and smug smiles since Kai had said he was paying for their stuff after helping him legally rob the store.
Back to the front of the line, that manager that was called directly gave kai a fifty gold discount and rounded the total down to four platinum coins. kai also got a shock and awe effect again from the passersby when he rolled about twelve carts into his pocket dimension which was against the ground, and they all wheeled out again empty without Kai having to reach his arm in and grab them.
The next store that Kai hit was a hardware place just down the street. Nails, power tools, industrial grade flashlights, this time Kai directly spent a bit over two thousand gold on various things. They also went into the Doraemon pocket.
An electronics store was visited, a custom awakeners gear blacksmith sold Kai a few useful things, a poor chicken teriyaki street vendor got jumped scared by a teenager that suddenly appeared before paying for food and disappearing again, An herbal healing shop sold Kai a few books on beginner alchemy and good plants to look out for when making potions, and a lady who was walking around with an ice cream cart directly fainted when a ghost boy appeared, only to wake up with an extra gold coin and a missing tub of ice cream...

Kai hummed happily as he rode the train to the awakeners association. The best part was that his pocket dimension wasn't full. It increased by one meter for each point of mana, so it was about 24 meters across from one end to the other in a cubical shape. Kai had poke his head in from time to time to see all of the floating things, as he was apparently exempt from the no living objects in the pocket dimension rule, but he had noticed that his mana was constantly dropping while inside.
It did serve as a temporary place to hide as long a he was mindful of where he opened it up. He was a little afraid of opening up a portal and cutting someone in half like a science fiction movie. His portals were like blenders around the edges still. Once Kai had more experience, he could create portals that were safe even if someone walked into the side of them, as well as creating portals for traveling long distance and even using them like buzz saws that could cut through things like laser swords.
When the train stopped, Kai directly blinked off of it and began walking to the awakeners association to look for skill books.
