Kai waited for an hour and a half in the exchange line of the association before he was allowed to look through a tablet of available items at a kiosk. There was an hour long time limit to look through the association's stock and order what you wanted from the tablet.
Usually people come with an idea of what they want to exchange for, but it wasn't like there were no other people who wanted to use the tablets and buy things, so there had to be a limiter since there were always the kinds of people that would stand around for half an hour with the refrigerator door open in the exchange line a couple of times every day.
Kai quickly began searching through skill books.
'Spacial mage skill books let's see, ten thousand platinum coins, exchange for legendary grade artifact, exchange for wyvern reverse scale, oh that one's pretty cheap, but it's pretty low level. Maybe I'll come back to the city in a couple of years and see if it's still around. A thousand diamond coins, yeah. I knew nobody would put a vortex blade book up for cheap. You could one shot a dragon with that horrifying skill.'
Kai nonchalantly daydreamed about the country toppling wealth one would need to buy spacial mage skill books for about five minutes before he moved on to his actual goal, which was potion recipes, blacksmithing equipment and guidebooks, a few life profession skill books that Kai could use that were kind of worthless in the hands of others, a bunch of skill guides for life professions to unlock related passive and active skills, and eventually, he got to another point that he was sure would fail, since spacial mage skill books were rare and he hadn't even heard of druids before, much less seen any skill books for them.
'Okay, D. R. U. I. D. Let's see that empty result list.'
To Kai's absolute mind numbing shock, a total of seven different skill books popped out. Not only that, all that was listed on the skill page was to contact the seller for details, with a phone number noted down. As a side note, the listing was only put up a week and a half ago, about the same time as the mass awakening for the graduating class of the middle schools.
[Seller: Sheila August]
[Items listed: Druid Skill Books(Call Of The Forest, Wild Shape, Companion Bonding, Photosynthesis, Nature's Gift, The Forest Listens, Domain Of The Wilds]
[If a Druid sees this listing, please contact urgently, the skills are free as long as you get in touch with me on time and grant me one favor]
Kai was dumfounded, but he quickly paid twenty thousand gold for the life profession things he bought and then called the number that was indicated on the listing as he walked out of the awakeners association.
Ring...
Ring...
After about five minutes of calls, someone picked up. Kai checked his phone's time. It was about five thirty in the afternoon still.
"Hello?"
The voice on the other end of the line was feminine, with a youthful liveliness. By the sound of it, it was a girl not much older than Kai on the other end of the line.
"I'm calling about the druid skill books. There are circumstances on my end, can we meet and talk?"
"Really!? Are you a druid? Oh my god oh my god oh my god! Thank god I found someone! Where are you, there's no time to waste! Hurry! Give me your location!"
***
Kai managed to calm down the girl on the other end of the line. After explaining that he wanted to keep his identity a secret, he told the girl just to look for a sketchy looking dude in a hoodie with a baseball cap and sunglasses in front of the awakeners association building. Within ten minutes, a limousine pulled up in front of the building. As Kai was going to look away, the back door opened and the same voice that Kai had heard over the phone popped out and began to shout.
"Mr Druid! Hello? Hey! Who here is the druid? Hello!"
Kai quickly ran up to her and got her to shut up. It only took a moment, but if anyone recognized Kai, there might be a trail that would lead people to realize that he had two professions, which was the worst case scenario. If Kai didn't realize what an amazing opportunity this was to grow stronger, he wouldn't have contacted this high profile girl in the first place, much less gone up to her after that stunt.
If Sheila had realized how close she was to scaring away maybe the only druid in the whole city, or perhaps the whole country, she probably would've burst into uncontrollable sobs and begged for Kai's forgiveness.
The car had been moving for over a minute now, and now Kai sat across from a girl that Kai would've called European in his past life. She was sitting across from him, clearing anxious. She was fidgeting and bouncing in her seat, but she seemed suddenly reluctant to speak up. Kai sighed, and she instantly tensed as if she'd just been poked by a needle.
Kai kept his voice low, trying to disguise it a bit. Hopefully, since his demeanor was different from the previous Kai Darkbloom, he could keep her from recognizing him.
"If you burst into tears or start talking at a pace inconceivable to the human brain again, I'll leave. Take a deep breath, and explain to me why you need the help of an obscure class like a druid. Either it's something only I can do, something incredibly difficult, or both. Either way, there's no point sugarcoating it or acting like it's the end of the world. I just need to see if I can do the task and get the reward."
Sheila August blinked her green eyes at him. Slowly, her gaze cleared up and she visibly calmed down. She really, really needed exactly this man's help. She suddenly felt that even if another druid appeared before her right this moment, Kai was clearly the only right option.
"What I need is both simple and entirely impossible. I need a druid to solo clear a D grade dungeon and use a specific skill to obtain a special bonus reward. As long as I get that thing, you can have everything else in the dungeon and the skill books I posted before. I would honestly give you more of them. I would bankrupt my whole family just to give you every possible benefit in exchange for that item, but I swear on my life that those skill books are the only druid skills that I could find in the entire country."
"..."
"..."
"So, you're from a rich and powerful family, right?"
Sheila nodded vigorously.
"And you'd happily break all your family's assets to help me, and even if I bankrupt your entire family into the ground, you'd happily do it just to get your hands on a single item?"
"If money is the problem, it isn't really a problem."
"The truth is that I have two classes. I'm a spacial mage. Mage gear and spacial mage skill books are welcome."
"..."
"..."
"You. You're not joking. Why do you have two professions?"
"I'm not telling, even if you torture me to death. And you and that driver behind me aren't either if you want that item. Never another soul. Not once will you mention my druid class in your lives."
Kai took off his hat and glasses. He let down his hoodie too.
"You're the worthless waste bastard that got expelled from the Darkbloom family!?"
"..."
"..."
"Sure, shout it out to the world. See if I help you."
Sheila immediately bowed her head and body ninety degrees in Kai's direction.
"I'll give you five spacial mage skill books and some level one mage gear too! The most expensive and effective stuff on the market! I'll even happily marry you if you want! Please save my father!"
Kai held his head in his hand. He was in for a long night. Little did he know, the limousine driver, who was actually Sheila's personal butler, had been in perfect sync with Kai's thoughts as well.
