[6]The Most Overpowered Rookie Professional

Kai watched silently as Sheila began to make frantic phone calls. As the limousine drove full speed to the local August family mansion, phrases such as: ("I don't give a damn what it costs"), ("Do it or you're fired!"), ("Get me on the line with the head of --- family now!"), and finally ("I'm transferring it now!") were all frequently heard. Finally, about the same time as the limousine pulled into the long driveway of the August family mansion, Sheila finally hung up the last call with a smile.

"Hehe, We'll have the skill books and the gear ready by the time the teleportation array gets us to my personal villa in Break Drop city. We sure are lucky Kai! You just ran into the richest lady in the country right when you're the only one in the whole damn place that can help her. There were basically zero chances for me to save my dad or you to run into me at a moment of weakness. I don't know what's up with your dual professions, but I've never heard of something like that, and there's a guy who can copy any skill in the world around! Wait, didn't that dude beat you up? Is there something in the water in New Dragon city or what? I swear to the heavens I've never seen such a crazy coincidence."

"I won't give details, but both me and that kid's souls are just special for different reasons. No wait, you could call it the sane reason. Either way, you're right. It's my lucky day and yours too. How much is this costing you anyway?"

Kai didn't really trust anyone much anymore, but two lives of poverty taught him one way or another to trust money when he could grab it. That didn't mean that just anyone could buy Kai's loyalty. He didn't know what it was about Sheila, but he just fell into a natural harmonious rhythm with her. She was so honest and almost naively straightforward when she wanted something. Kai could tell that there were probably a thousand or two different ways that she could get her way out of him, but Sheila August absolutely refused to compromise even if she was bleeding money over it.

"A lot. I almost had to spend all of my pocket money for the week. It was probably almost twenty thousand diamond coins worth in total."

Kai suddenly wanted to spit blood. Twenty thousand diamond coins? Pocket money? Was there any point in living two lives if a girl younger than you could casually crush you to death with the lightest and most expensive feathers in the world that cost more than you could ever make in a lifetime per feather? And she could do that with her weekly pocket money? Is there any justice in the world?

Kai was suddenly very tempted to drop on one knee and propose to this girl that he met half an hour ago. It was love at the first heartbreaking financial truth of the world. Jokes that weren't really jokes aside, Kai followed Sheila through the mansion and ended up walking straight through it.

Kai ended up following Sheila to an outdoors pagoda behind the villa.

"So, there's a teleportation circle here?"

"Yup."

In the next moment, Kai's surroundings flashed with light and Kai felt a wave of dizziness. Kai steadied himself in his feet and Sheila's voice came from his left.

"Oops. I forgot that spacial mages tend to get overwhelmed by large spacial jumps when they're low level."

Sheila's hand reached out to catch Kai if he fell over, but he caught himself well.

"It's okay. I'm getting used to it. I take it this is Break Drop city?"

Sheila gave him a warm smile and nodded. Her blond ponytail bobbed with her head and gave an innocent and cute impression.

Kai reached for his phone and checked the time. Sighing, he turned to Sheila.

"So how urgently do you need the item? I need a mission briefing, time to get acquainted with the new skills and gear, a good run down of the strategy, and some grub. Ever since I awakened the Druid class, I noticed that I'm eating a lot more food."

Sheila blinked at him with an innocent expression.

"We're kind of short on time. My dad's going to die in a three weeks without that elixir drop, and he said that the clear time should be around six days."

Kai almost cursed. He only had a few days of preparation before he had to try and conquer a dungeon with monsters at the average level between sixty one and ninety. It was a death sentence unless Sheila had a really good strategy.

Sheila walked off of the teleportation pagoda, and Kai followed behind her like a shadow. After all, if Kai still wanted to go off into the wilderness permanently, he wanted to be as secure as possible, which meant pleasing the rich girl and leveling up along the way. Kai was a spacial magic user, after all. Level ninety monsters sound scary, but teleportation really wasn't a skill that could be looked down upon.

As they walked into the back of this other villa, Kai was surprised to see more than fifty heavily armed people that seemed to be waiting for Sheila.

A loud chorus of "We welcome the lady!" broke out in unison when those men and women saw Sheila. Sheila's aura seemed to change in front of these subordinates too, giving any onlooker the feeling of grace and subtle oppression of being unworthy of Sheila's attention.

"At ease. I'll accept the status report later, so have team one follow me to the Headquarters and the rest of you should continue your guard duties."

The awakeners shouted "Yes, ma'am!" in unison, and all but five of them dispersed in all directions. From among them, a woman who appeared to be in her early thirties or late twenties stepped forward to greet Sheila.

"Miss, did you find the man your dad said would save him?"

Sheila gave the woman a look that made Kai feel vaguely suspicious of something, but Sheila's reply came quickly and his attention shifted.

"Yeah, I found a druid like he asked. The problem is that he's level one, so you guys are going to take the two of us to beat a few short dungeons and we'll have to sharpen him upwith experience, gear, and levels. We can debrief him on the strategy along the way. The August group is about to boost up the most overpowered rookie professional!"
