Chapter 137: Fragmented Divinity vs. The Undying Lizard

[Anomaly: Undying Lizard (SCP-682). Anomaly Level 5: Apocalyptic.]

(T/N: Base on wiki, this SCP's real name is Atanti-ql-Paneu)

[This entity exhibits the following characteristics: It appears as a massive reptilian creature with an inherent hostility and aggression toward nearly all life forms, particularly harboring an intense hatred for humans. It possesses an extremely tenacious vitality, demonstrating an unprecedented level of adaptability to both environmental changes and external attacks.]

[The entity boasts immense strength, speed, and reflexes. It can actively adjust its body size, either growing or shrinking, with its displayed power varying according to its form.]

[It can derive energy from any consumed substance, whether organic or inorganic. Its digestion is aided by filtration gills located in its nostrils, which can extract useful components from any liquid. Additionally, it maximizes the utility of absorbed energy to modify its physical form for enhanced adaptation (manifesting as growth and molting).]

[The entity possesses an exceptional regenerative ability, strong adaptability, moderate sensory perception, and a level of destructive power with no discernible upper limit.]

[Its origins remain unknown, and it is resistant to death by any means, including physical damage, energy-based attacks, reality distortion, or conceptual erasure.]

When Haruto finished reading this information, the warehouse district along the northern coastline of the Northern Nation had already been completely flattened.

Countless warehouses had been crushed into rubble, leaving behind only remnants of destruction.

The headquarters of the Distillery had been entirely unearthed from underground.

Various weapons, firearms, ammunition—

Along with numerous cloned vehicles, modified cars, and even heavy-duty off-road vehicles with mounted machine guns—

All were now exposed under the sunlight, with most reduced to wreckage.

As for the personnel of the Distillery, they had either been devoured by the lizard—

Or had been executed or captured by the Foundation's operatives, slated for memory erasure before being reassigned as Class-D personnel.

And as for SCP-682 itself—

When Haruto laid eyes on it, the monstrous, unidentified reptilian creature had already grown to a size rivaling that of Godzilla.

Moreover, this reptilian "Godzilla" was attempting to advance toward City 697.

Fortunately, the Foundation operatives, realizing the dire situation, initiated artificial rainfall over the warehouse district.

Using advanced technology, they increased atmospheric humidity, creating a thick fog that would persist for several hours.

Meanwhile, the evacuation zone was significantly expanded.

To the public, they issued the explanation that a failed missile launch had resulted in a crash within the warehouse district.

While the explanation was somewhat flimsy, it was sufficient to deceive the general populace.

Otherwise, not only would the Northern Nation need to conduct widespread memory-erasure operations—

But countless people would likely perish from the anomaly's sheer presence before their memories could even be erased.

Foundation agents in the Northern Nation, clad in pitch-black armor, continuously maneuvered around SCP-682, binding it with some form of black threads.

Since physical and energy-based attacks were ineffective—

The Foundation operatives opted to employ a specialized flexible carbon fiber material.

This fiber is a product of the Foundation, serving as one of the core materials for the initial construction of the reinforced containment layer.

Its density and strength are several times that of normal carbon, with molecules arranged so tightly that the fiber possesses hardness surpassing that of diamonds.

At the same time, despite having such high hardness, it retains the properties of fiber—excellent ductility and flexibility.

Using this carbon fiber, Foundation agents clad in Black-3 armor engaged in a primitive tug-of-war with the Undying Lizard (SCP-682).

Even though more than a dozen agents, reinforced by the Black-3 armor, still lost in terms of raw strength to the Undying Lizard, they successfully delayed its advance, buying time until Haruto arrived on the scene.

With a single beat of his black wings, Haruto landed directly in the path of the Undying Lizard.

The monstrous lizard, which had been dragging a dozen Foundation agents forward, suddenly planted both front claws into the ground.

In an almost incomprehensible manner, it halted its movement.

Although it nearly toppled over due to inertia, it managed to stop.

The Undying Lizard (SCP-682)'s six eyes locked onto Haruto.

Then, it let out a scream—a piercing, continuous wail directed at Haruto.

Even though the Foundation agents could not comprehend the meaning of the scream, they could feel the fear within it.

The agents who had been flung aside now wore relieved smiles.

They had been dealing with this massive lizard, their nerves stretched to the limit.

Even with the Pitch Black armor, fear had crept into their hearts.

Yet now, seeing this terror-incarnate lizard screaming in fear at a single human, the agents felt as if a great weight had been lifted.

"The President has arrived!"

"As expected of the President! Even anomalies can only scream in fear before him."

"I thought I was going to die… Looks like we were lucky enough to hold out until the President got here."

Several agents slumped to the ground, chatting with exhausted relief.

Though the Undying Lizard's screams left them dizzy and with ringing eardrums, to them, the sound was oddly pleasant.

Haruto raised an eyebrow at the screaming lizard.

This mysterious reptilian creature clearly possessed intelligence, possibly at a very high level.

So, was it screaming in fear because it recognized something about him?

For instance, his two shattered Supreme Divinities?

To test his theory, Haruto took a single step forward.

The Undying Lizard (SCP-682) immediately ceased its screaming and turned to flee toward the horizon.

Despite being wrapped in the special carbon fiber, its movements were completely unaffected.

Clearly, the creature had already evolved again.

Seeing this, Haruto confirmed that the lizard could indeed perceive something.

Then, if I unleash my fractured divinity, how will you respond?

"Za Warudo!"

The world turned gray and silent, time was frozen.

The Undying Lizard (SCP-682), which had just turned to flee, was now locked in place.

Haruto slowly walked to the front of the creature.

To his surprise, as he stood before it, he could feel its six eyes staring at him.

Yet, in the moment that time had frozen, its field of vision should have been empty.

Moreover, the sensation of being watched was something Haruto could only perceive when time was flowing.

Haruto smirked in mild surprise.

"You can maintain awareness even within a Supreme Divinity's domain? Then, can you break free?"

After a moment of silence, the Undying Lizard (SCP-682) remained motionless.

Aside from its gaze, it was indistinguishable from any other frozen entity.

Haruto's eyes turned blood red.

The Mangekyō Sharingan appeared.

Kamui activated, slicing the space around the Undying Lizard's body.

Strangely colored blood burst forth but remained suspended midair.

Haruto observed the creature closely, looking for any minute reaction.

Yet, as before, aside from its gaze, there was no noticeable difference.

Guiding Kamui, Haruto continued slicing the Undying Lizard's body apart, slowly erasing the severed pieces with space-time power.

By the time he had removed over 87% of its physical mass, Haruto finally stopped.

"It seems your adaptability has not yet evolved to the point of resisting Supreme Divinity—even a fractured one."

The power of the world was lifted.

Time resumed its flow.

A wretched howl erupted from the Undying Lizard (SCP-682).

In the stillness of frozen time, 87% of its body had been erased.

Because it had all happened in a single frozen instant, there had been no process of loss.

No matter how terrifying its adaptability was, the Undying Lizard could not reverse the sheer scale of its lost mass.

It lunged toward the ground, attempting to devour the earth to replenish its energy.

But Haruto simply reached out and grabbed a portion of its remaining body.

Lifting it into the air, he prevented it from touching anything.

The Undying Lizard let out desperate, continuous cries.

Yet, Haruto remained unmoved.

After a brief standoff, what remained of its body began to shrink inward.

Its size visibly decreased, yet its limbs and organs regenerated.

Eventually, the Undying Lizard was reduced to a fully quadrupedal creature, just three meters long and two meters high—far smaller than when it had first appeared.

Clearly, without consuming new matter, restoring its form purely through stored energy was an immense struggle.

The lizard had entered a weakened state.

The scales, fangs, and other evolved features had significantly deteriorated.

The surrounding Foundation agents erupted into cheers.

Haruto, however, simply waved a hand, instructing them to continue their work.

Containing an anomaly was not the end of a Foundation mission, there was still cleanup to be done.

The North Foundation needed to handle public information control, internet data erasure, and small-scale memory wipes. More importantly, they needed to construct a dedicated containment chamber for the Undying Lizard (SCP-682).

"This entity is designated as the Undying Lizard (SCP-682) and must be contained within the reinforced containment layer."

"Prepare a special chamber measuring 5m × 5m × 5m."

"Line the chamber's interior with 25 cm thick reinforced acid-resistant steel plating."

"The chamber must be filled with hydrochloric acid, completely submerging SCP-682."

"Ensure it remains fully submerged, unable to resist, and monitor its activity at all times."

Following Haruto's instructions, the North Foundation Containment Site immediately began modifying the containment chamber.

(T/N: Blacklight? My g?

I'm seriously considering of just stopping translating this fic cuz this mofo can't utilize most of its power. Base on what I've read and the application of this power, bro could have done more and be powerful.

Thoughts?)
