Chapter Eighteen: Just the Two of Us

After finishing his cookies, James leaned against the counter, watching Charlotte with a lazy smirk.

"So, how did you entertain yourself while I was gone?" he asked, crossing his arms.

Charlotte shrugged, grinning. "Oh, you know… baked, read a book, danced around the living room like a crazy person."

James raised an eyebrow. "Danced?"

Charlotte rolled her eyes. "Relax, no one saw me."

James stepped closer, his smirk deepening. "Shame. I would've liked to see that."

She playfully pushed his chest, but he caught her wrist, pulling her into his arms. "How about we dance now?"

Charlotte blinked. "You? Want to dance?"

James nodded. "Why not? No music, no audience—just us."

Dancing in the Living Room

With no music playing, James took her hand and placed his other hand on her waist, leading her in a slow, lazy dance right there in the kitchen.

Charlotte giggled. "You're terrible at this."

James smirked. "I don't need to be good at it. I just need to hold you."

Her heart melted at his words. They swayed gently, wrapped in the warmth of each other's presence.

Movie Night

After their impromptu dance, James dragged her to the couch. "Movie night," he declared.

Charlotte curled up beside him as he flipped through the selections. "You always pick action movies," she teased.

James smirked. "Fine. You choose."

Charlotte grinned and picked a romantic comedy.

James groaned. "Seriously?"

She cuddled closer, giving him her best innocent look. "You said I could choose."

James sighed dramatically but pulled her closer. "Fine. But if this gets too cheesy, I'm making you watch an action movie after."

They spent the next two hours laughing, teasing each other, and sneaking kisses between scenes.

A Perfect Night

As the credits rolled, Charlotte rested her head on James's chest. "This was a good day."

James ran his fingers through her hair. "Yeah… it was."

He tilted her chin up, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. "We should have more days like this."

Charlotte smiled. "Agreed."

And as they lay there, wrapped in each other's warmth, she realized that sometimes, the simplest moments were the most precious.
