Not long after his cousin disappeared, Renkai planned to take in the cat his cousin had left behind, but just like everything else, the cat vanished without a trace. Renkai believed it was a clue to finding his missing cousin, so he searched everywhere, eventually finding traces of it near a university. But before he could catch it, the cat disappeared again. Just like his cousin, it had completely vanished, and the trail went cold. And then, before he could make sense of anything, he was dragged into the Dragon Ball world by the [Dragon System], becoming just as much of a missing person as his cousin.
"So that's why you came here? Phew, you scared me!" Korin sighed in relief when Renkai made it clear that he wasn't here to cause trouble. The old white cat dug around in his supplies before pulling out a pot and a large jar, then handed them over to Renkai, who was still in his humanoid dragon form. "Just so you know, this Super Holy Water is highly poisonous. Ordinary people can't drink it! And this jar contains several kilograms of Senzu Beans. You got what you wanted, so now, kindly leave." Despite trying to sound confident, his fur was still standing on end.
"Now tell me your wish, and I will grant it."
For Renkai, obtaining the Super Holy Water and Senzu Beans was just a side bonus. His real goal was Korin himself. If he hadn't transformed into a humanoid dragon, Korin's combat strength would have actually been higher than Renkai's normal state. That alone made it clear—this cat had a wealth of knowledge and experience. He wasn't about to let that go to waste.
"I don't have any wishes for you to fulfill!" Korin blurted out, his tail twitching nervously.
"Oh? You sure about that? What about a combat power detector, specially designed for Earthlings but just as effective as Frieza's Legion's? Or maybe… the best fish you've ever tasted?" Renkai smirked. He had no problem giving the old cat something in return. After all, Korin's abilities would soon become his anyway. A little goodwill wouldn't hurt.
At first, Korin just blinked, looking at Renkai with an expression of disbelief. Then, his eyes started watering. His whiskers twitched. His ears drooped slightly. For a moment, Renkai felt a little bad. But in the end, Korin reluctantly agreed and made his wish.
"It's done." A mountain of fresh fish appeared out of nowhere, flopping around on the ground. Korin let out an excited "Meow!" and leaped straight into the pile, rolling around like a kitten given a lifetime supply of catnip. Meanwhile, Renkai received his rewards.
Ding! Acquired the Art of Foresight!
Ding! Acquired the Ability to Sense Ki!
Renkai ignored the cat, who was too busy enjoying himself, and ended his humanoid dragon transformation. Now back in his normal form, he picked up the combat power detector—which Korin hadn't even glanced at—and placed it over his left eye. He had to admit, it looked pretty cool. And more importantly, it was incredibly useful. Even better, since the device was copied using Renkai's own power, it couldn't be hacked or tracked by Frieza's Legion. Not that it mattered. If Frieza himself showed up, Renkai would crush him like an insect.
"Alright, let's see what I've got now." Renkai pressed a button, activating the detector. The numbers began to appear on the screen.
Korin: Combat Power – 190
Not far from that number, another set of data appeared.
Renkai: Combat Power – 200
(Humanoid Dragon Form: Combat Power – 2000)
Then another scan.
Kami: Combat Power – 220
Popo: Combat Power – 700
Renkai chuckled. "Just as I thought." Popo was actually the strongest fighter on Earth in the early Dragon Ball story. Even before the Saiyans invaded, he had a staggering combat power of 700. If it weren't for the rules preventing him from interfering, Piccolo Daimao wouldn't have stood a chance.
And speaking of Piccolo Daimao… Kami and Piccolo were originally the same being, only split into two. Since they were equal in strength, Piccolo Daimao's power must have been the same—220 in his old age. Even after wishing for his youth back, he only barely managed to reach 300. Compared to Popo's 700? Piccolo Daimao was just another weakling waiting to be squashed.
High above Korin's Tower, inside the grand temple, Kami continued to observe Renkai with growing concern. "Popo… the dragon in human form has grown even stronger." Kami's voice was filled with unease.
"Lord Kami, that dragon seems to be getting stronger by granting wishes. That might explain everything." Popo's voice was calm, as always.
Kami nodded. He had been thinking the same thing. "But his power is increasing too fast. If he ever becomes as evil as Piccolo Daimao, the world will face a disaster far greater than anything before." Kami's wrinkled green fingers tightened around his staff. A warrior with a combat power of over a thousand was unheard of on Earth.
Hundreds of years ago, it had taken Master Mutaito's ultimate sacrifice to seal away one monster with just over 200 combat power. Now, there was someone ten times stronger, and he was still growing. If Renkai ever turned against them, who could stop him?
"Lord Kami, the dragon is coming here." Popo's voice remained steady, but even he was watching carefully now. Renkai, after waiting for his 12-hour cooldown to reset, had transformed back into his humanoid dragon form. He was on his way to the temple.
Moments later, he leaped onto the massive floating structure, landing smoothly before Kami and Popo, who had been waiting for him.
Renkai spread his arms, smiling. "Greetings, Kami and Popo. I am Renkai." His voice was filled with confidence. "I believe you already know why I'm here. So, tell me your wishes, and I will make them come true."
Kami's eyes narrowed slightly. "You know of us?" Renkai nodded. Kami hesitated for only a moment before regaining his composure. If this being could transform into a dragon, it was no surprise that he had access to great knowledge.
"Very well. Shenron, can you truly grant any wish?" A cunning look flashed in Kami's old eyes.
"As long as it doesn't involve me personally killing Beerus or Zeno, I can grant it." Kami's expression didn't change, but internally, he was startled. Beerus? Zeno? He had never heard those names before. Who were they? And what kind of being was Renkai? His mind raced with questions, but he quickly composed himself.
"I see. Then, Shenron, I have my wish." He took a deep breath and declared, "Protect the Earth."
Renkai smiled. "That's an easy one."
