Chapter Eleven

The following morning, Aurora rose early and headed up to the sixth floor to tidy the room. She was under Maverick's control and couldn't let the kids stay in the same apartment as her.

After cleaning the room, Aurora sat on the bed and made a video call to her kids.

The five little ones' heads popped out. "Mommy!" they chimed in unison.

Aurora smiled and asked, "How're you doing, babies?"

Xiaoxue replied, her tears welling up, "Ava is definitely not doing fine!"

Julian added, looking pitiful, "Mommy doesn't want us again!"

Aurora's heart ached as she looked at the five little ones. It wasn't that she didn't want them; it's just that their dad wouldn't let her go. But how could she explain this to the kids?

Aurora mustered a smile and said, "You guys will see Mommy today!"

The five little children's eyes lit up, and they asked in unison, "Really?"

Aurora nodded happily. "Yes."

Even though it was a bit risky to bring the kids to her apartment, she couldn't bear to be apart from them.

"Will Mommy come back?" Ava asked happily.

Aurora replied, smiling, "No, Auntie will bring you to Mommy!"

"You guys, go get ready. Mommy wants to talk to Auntie."

The five little ones agreed readily. "Okay!"

Just then, Mia's anxious voice came through the phone. "Aurora, how're you doing?"

Aurora replied, "Mia, don't worry about me. I've got a new apartment, so I'll send you the address. You bring the children over..."

As she spoke, her phone vibrated. Seeing an unfamiliar number, Aurora froze, wondering if it might be Maverick.

"Mia, end the call quickly," Aurora said anxiously and answered the other call, "Hello?"

"Aurora, it's me, Caleb." Aurora's tense nerves relaxed.

"Oh, do you need something?" She asked,

"I just left home and happened to be passing by the company. Want to grab a meal together?"

Aurora immediately recalled Maverick's warning and refused, "No, I'm a bit tired from work yesterday. I'll just rest and get ready for work."

Caleb paused for a moment before responding, "Okay, that's fine. Rest up, and we'll make plans for next time."

Aurora treated it as a standard courtesy and ended the call.

After the call, Aurora quickly prepared for work.

In the afternoon, she went to the restroom and then to the tea room.

Sitting inside, she drank water and browsed food delivery options on her phone, unsure what to eat. The hospital didn't provide food or lodging, so she had to take care of it herself.

The salary was quite high – $5000 during the probation period and $7,000 after becoming a formal employee. Her salary was based on her performance, such as receiving commissions for introducing customers. This was much more than the guaranteed salary.

Aurora thought that if it weren't for her situation, the prospects of earning such a job would be quite promising.

She also thought of the five kids she needed to take care of!

However, it was necessary to earn some milk money for the children before returning to them! Five children might be too much to feed!

"Aurora," A female nurse came in carrying a lunch box. "This is for you."

"Mine?" Aurora took it, a specially made hotel freshness bag and bok making her wonder.

"A man had it delivered to the front desk. I heard he's the heir of the Mason Family! Hey, is he your boyfriend?"

Aurora was stunned. She knew who Caleb was, but she didn't know he had sent the food.

The nurse didn't ask again when she saw that Aurora didn't speak and turned and left.

Aurora looked at the bag of food, feeling melancholy.

Because she refused to have a meal with Caleb, did he just use this method to make her eat?

Aurora didn't have a presumptuous mindset, but when there was nothing to eat, having a delicious meal in front of her would certainly feel warm. Her stomach even growled.

The sound of a text message came from her phone. When she opened it, it was from Caleb: No Mushroom, feel free to eat.

Aurora stared at the short line of words, lost in thought and feeling a bit sour inside. She never expected Caleb to remember that she couldn't eat Mushroom...

Aurora replied, "Thank you, but I can't trouble you like this next time."

Caleb didn't reply, and she didn't know if he had heard her.

Aurora took out the food box, opened it, and unsurprisingly, it was delicious and didn't have a hint of Mushroom flavor.

Since it was already delivered, she couldn't just not eat it.

As she ate, Aurora thought to herself, they're both friends, so why was there such a big difference in their personalities.

Maverick was a complete devil!

As she was finishing up, a tall and elegant figure leaned against the doorframe caught her eye.

Caleb walked in and sat down in the chair across from her, glancing at the empty food box, "Looks like your taste hasn't changed."

Aurora blushed, feeling a bit embarrassed, and quickly packed up the food and put it aside. She wiped the corners of her mouth with a tissue and asked, "Why did you come over?"

"Not welcome?" Caleb asked seriously, looking towards the door, "Do you want me to close it?"

Aurora chuckled at his teasing, "Won't that make people suspicious?"

Caleb looked at her beautiful and lively smile and felt a slight flutter in his heart, but he concealed it well.

As it turned out, someone did pass by the pantry, and it was Gabriel, the owner of the plastic surgery hospital.

Upon seeing the people inside, he paused for a moment and asked, "What are you doing here?"

Caleb stood up and replied, "Just came in for a drink. Is there anything you need? This is your employee, Aurora." Gabriel glanced at Aurora and greeted her, "Hello." Then he turned to Caleb and said, "Actually, I have something to discuss with you. Can we talk in my office?"

Caleb noticed that Gabriel didn't look well and asked, "Is everything okay? You seem quite serious."

"The plastic surgery hospital is going to change ownership. Do you think that's serious? I'll be waiting for you in my office."

Caleb turned to Aurora and said, "I'll go and see what he wants."

"Sure."

After they left, Aurora stood in the pantry, lost in thought.

The plastic surgery hospital is changing ownership?

No way. She had just started to get used to her job here. Does that mean she'll have to find a new job again?

If they're not laying off employees, does that mean she can stay here?

That's impossible.

She only got this Job through connection and has no knowledge of plastic surgery.

Oh well, she'll just wait and see if she gets laid off...

Caleb didn't show up for work that day.

Aurora went to her own department to start her shift.

After work, Aurora eagerly went home, her little kids must have arrived.

The sound of the lock opening came from the door, and the door opened. Five little heads rushed in eagerly and saw Aurora. They ran towards her excitedly. "Mommy!"
