Aurora lowered her gaze, her smile faint, "Really?"

"I heard... Maverick has come back from abroad. He didn't do anything to you, did he?" Caleb asked.

"No," Aurora didn't want to talk about anything related to Maverick.

It seemed like just talking about it was enough to make her anxious and suffocated.

"If he bothers you, tell me, I'll help you," Caleb said.

Aurora felt warmed in her heart. When she was helpless before, Caleb had helped her. So even after all these years, she recognized him at first glance.

Now, while she was suffering from Maverick's ruthless actions, she met Caleb again, who helped her enter the plastic surgery hospital and provided even more assistance. She was really grateful to him.

"Why did Maverick come back to Sun City?" Aurora asked, pretending to know nothing.

"I'm not sure, no one in the Maverick's Family knows," Caleb frowned slightly.

Aurora's heart sank a little, "Have you contacted him?"

"Since he cut ties with the Maverick's Family, we haven't been in contact. I don't even have a way to contact him," Caleb reminded her, "If you see Maverick, you must find a way to avoid him."

Before, Caleb would occasionally go to Maverick's house to see him, and their relationship was still good.

As the two of them were happily dining, a black Maybach slowly pulled up across the street, facing the direction of the restaurant.

Maverick's sharp gaze pierced through the black car window, coldly falling on the two people eating in the restaurant.

'I'll walk you home," Caleb said.

Maverick thought to himself, so she doesn't have a boyfriend now?

"I'll go first," Aurora said, then turned and left.

Caleb watched the slender figure running away, his eyes softening. She doesn't seem to have changed much, even from a distance, she still looks so similar...

Aurora chose the cheapest means of transportation, the subway, to get to the Onyx Garden. However, she had to walk for an hour after getting off the subway since it didn't go directly to the garden. She wished she could keep walking forever.

When she saw the black Maybach parked outside the gate, her body stiffened involuntarily. It was Maverick's car.

The trees and bushes in the Onyx Garden seemed like devilish creatures in the dark. Aurora nervously swallowed and walked up the steps to the hall.

When her gaze met the deep and sharp eyes, she couldn't help but shrink back, "Where have you been?" Maverick asked calmly.

"I didn't go anywhere...I got a job at a plastic surgery hospital..." Aurora knew that there's no point of hiding anything from Maverick since he would find out anyway.

Maverick looked at her coldly, "Come here."

Due to Aurora's deep-rooted fear of Maverick, there was some distance between them. After hesitating for a moment, she walked forward and stopped about a meter away. "I'm telling the truth. You can investigate if you don't believe me."

"Is that all?" Maverick asked coldly, his black eyes piercing.

Aurora's eyes flickered slightly, and she couldn't help but stutter.

"Do I need to check?" Maverick's voice was ominous.

"No," Aurora said anxiously.

"I just didn't know if I should say anything...I ran into Caleb at the plastic surgery hospital today, with a woman who I assumed to be his girlfriend. After that...we had dinner together and then I came back."

"Trying to seduce men so eagerly? Do you want me to find you some more?" Maverick sneered.

"No, you misunderstand. It was just a dinner, nothing more!" Aurora defended herself.

"I remember he used to help you. You didn't let him take you away?" Maverick taunted.

Aurora lowered her gaze and replied, "I know my place."

"Stay away from him!" Maverick's voice was stern and intimidating.

"I understand..." Aurora complied, suppressing her anxious emotions, "Can I rent a place near the plastic surgery hospital? It's just that I get off work too late and it takes me an hour to walk from Onyx Garden after taking the subway. Is that possible?"

The spacious hall was as silent as death, with a strong sense of oppression looming over them.

Aurora's breathing became difficult, afraid that Maverick would refuse. She added, "I need to work so I can pay off my father's debt."

After she finished speaking, Maverick's raised leg fell to the ground, and he stood up, filling every corner with his imposing aura.

Aurora's nerves immediately tensed up, and when she was extremely frightened, her legs lost their power, as if being controlled by something invisible.

A tall black shadow pressed down in front of her, accompanied by a thick suffocating feeling. Then her jaw tightened as strong fingers pinched her.

Maverick's cold and intimidating face looked down, and his deep voice fell, "Okay. The premise is that you come whenever I call."

"... Okay..." Aurora agreed. Under Maverick's long gaze, she cautiously stepped back, out of Maverick's control, "I'll go back to my room first."

After speaking, she carefully moved away and went upstairs.

Maverick turned slightly, his sharp black gaze intimidating.

A beast never worries that its prey will gradually escape from its control. Three years ago, she ran away, but this time she definitely won't!

When Aurora returned to her room, she sat at the end of the bed, and her mood didn't relax much.

As long as she didn't leave Maverick, she couldn't relaxed. She had to be cautious in everything she did, taking every step carefully, so as not to step on thin ice and fall into an endless abyss.

The next day, Aurora worked while looking for a house online. Aurora found two suitable apartment and rushed over to see it during lunch. It was a small studio apartment, around 50 square meters, priced at $50 per month. It was a bit expensive, but Aurora was eager to move out of Onyx Garden and didn't have many options or much time.

That night, she moved in, locked the door and lay on the bed.

She slept soundly that night and even woke up to do a video call with her five children.

It was much safer than staying in the Onyx Garden.
