Carmen's eyes narrowed slightly, and she shook her head as if Pablo was seeing her. “Oh, it’s nothing. I was just curious to know if she’s related to Mister Perez.”

“Alright, I'd like to get back to work if that is all,” Pablo said.

“Sure,” Carmen responded, hanging up. She stared at the name on the page for a long moment, her mind buzzing with questions.

Carmen leaned back in her chair, her fingers tapping the edge of the folder as she processed the new information. Valentina Hernandez, Perez’s cousin, has been working in the finance and treasury department for the past two or three years. The timing seemed too convenient; her arrival at the company coincided with Romero becoming CEO, the same year the financial discrepancies started.
