One of the board members, an older gentleman with a grave expression, finally spoke up.
“Enough,” he said firmly, cutting through the chaos. “We’ve heard both sides. The board will review the evidence and make a decision based on facts, not speculation. Until then, I suggest we all remain professional.”
Perez leaned back in his chair, his expression cold and calculating. “Of course. I trust the board will see the reason.”
Carmen nodded, her posture unyielding. “As do I.”
With that, the meeting was adjourned, but the battle was far from over. As the board members filed out, Perez approached Carmen, his smile venomous.
“You’ve made a mistake coming after me,” he said quietly, his voice laced with menace.
Carmen didn’t flinch. “The only mistake was underestimating me.”
Perez stared at her for a moment before turning on his heel and walking away, his allies close behind.
