The Myers

The past few days have been exceptional. I have started to get used to being around fewer people and it has been great. However, the howling noise still continues, especially at night. It doesn't happen every night though. I have made friends with one of my neighbors, her name is Lisa. On the second day of my stay, she came over with a box of cookies and greeted me with a warm "hello, new neighbor." I was excited to see her with the cookies. She looks a little older than me, but I think this is a good start to a new chapter in my life. Back in my hometown, I was more used to befriending older people than those my own age. "Hi, please come in," I welcomed her inside and offered her a seat. "Is there anything you'd like to drink? I have soda, if you don't mind." I wanted to be as polite and welcoming as possible.

"Soda will be nice," I went into the fridge to grab her one and she took it. "By the way, my name is Lisa. Welcome to warriors pack," she says. I smiled at her. "And my name is Eunice, and I am so happy to be here," she giggled. "I know, right? This place is amazing. I was also thrilled the first time I came here. Everything felt too good to be true, but it's been good so far." I love how open she is, and I also wanted to try my best to be as open as she was. I am a very introverted person. "Yes, I know. Everyone has been so kind." With that, we chattered away. From then on, we became good friends. I really want to ask her about the howling. The thing is, I have never seen a wolf in this place, but they seem to howl at night, especially when it's a full moon. So I was scared at first, thinking a wolf might come into my home as animals seemed to wander around, but none of that has ever happened.

I visited Lisa at her apartment and we had our usual conversation. "Um Lisa, does the howling at night bother you?" I asked. She smiled and replied, "Yeah, at first I was scared, but I talked to some people and they said it's normal and nothing to fear. I've been okay with it, although sometimes the town seems mysterious." I thought I was the only one who had noticed. It's a nice place, but there's something odd about it. "Oh, have you seen the Myers family since you moved here?" Myers family? It's the first time I've heard of them. "No, who are they?" She gasped in excitement, "They basically run the town. They're extremely wealthy and make all the decisions. They're like highly respected presidents or something. You should see them." She was so enthusiastic about the Myers family, it was intriguing. I realized I hadn't been going out much lately.

I would normally cook, but today I decided to go out to eat pizza. I bought the pizza and ice cream. It's a hot afternoon, so I sat down to eat my pizza. Suddenly, the door swung open and two men with a woman walked in. They looked magnificent and charming. I decided to focus on my food. The place seemed oddly quiet as they walked in, and I didn't pay much mind. As I took a scoop of my ice cream, I felt someone staring at me. I licked my lips and closed my eyes. Suddenly, I heard a low growl and opened my eyes to see the people who just came in staring at me intently. Two had surprises on their faces while one looked like he was holding himself back. I tried to ignore them as I took another scoop of my ice cream. I heard another low growl and wondered how that could come from a person. But I still didn't mind, thinking they would go away once they were done looking at me. Perhaps they were staring because I was new here. I took my ice cream again and immediately heard footsteps coming in my direction. I raised my head and met the gaze of the man with the most ocean blue eyes I had ever seen. Now that I had gotten a good look at him, he was indeed handsome. "Can I help you?" I asked. "Fuck," he said, and then walked out with the other man and woman following him.

The other people were staring at me as if I had insulted a god or something. Some were confused like me, while others were surprised. The shop owner came up to me and asked, "Do you happen to know Xander Myers?" The name Myers sounded familiar. Is it the Myers that Lisa was talking about, who owns this place? Even the way he walked in indicated it. "No, actually this is my first time seeing him," I replied. The owner smiled. "I see, it's new," he commented. What did he mean by that? "Um, I really have to go now. Can I have these items packed?" I inquired. The owner smiled and there was something suspicious in the way he started treating me as he gently replied, "Of course, ma'am."

I went home that day, replaying what had happened in my head. I really don't want to get on the bad side of whoever is in charge here. This opportunity is the best thing for me, and I had been looking forward to starting my new life here. I really don't want to mess it up. My doorbell rang and I went to answer it. It was Lisa, "Hey girl," she said as she walked in. "I am so excited today, I have a very handsome admirer." I chuckled, "At least your day is going well, mine wasn't so great." She looked at me with concern, "Did something happen today? You seem down." I sighed, "Guess who I ran into today." I said, "Xander Myers." She gasped and her face lit up, "Oh, you met Xander! He's so nice, did he welcome you? Why didn't I go with you today? Even though he's rich and powerful, he's so humble, the man of my dreams, so charming and handsome." Wait, this doesn't sound like the same person I met. Is there another Xander Myers? "Hmm, maybe you're mistaken. He doesn't seem to like me," I explained. "What? Did he actually say he doesn't like you?" She asked. "No, but he did approach me after glaring as if he wanted to devour me, he said 'fuck' and walked right away. He seemed angry for some reason," I replied, recalling the encounter.

I could tell from Lisa's expression that things were not looking good. She sat down on the couch and said, "Sit, Eunice." I obliged. "Well, there's a rumor going around, just rumors, mind you, among a select few people that there are some supernatural happenings in this town and the Myers family are said to be at the center of it. They're known as the alpha family. Some of us suspect it might have something to do with wolves, but it's all just speculation. So be cautious and avoid getting involved with the Myers," she warned. I shuddered at the thought of what she had just shared. What kind of supernatural activity was happening in this town? Should I leave? Or should I just continue living as if nothing had happened? "Thank you for telling me, Lisa. I really appreciate it," I said. Her face brightened. "Yeah, so this guy, he approached me on my way to the spa. Oh my, he was so handsome. I couldn't take my eyes off him. His smile was captivating, and he even seemed to enjoy my scent. My heart skipped a beat, Eunice," she gushed. I chuckled. "Looks like someone's in love," I teased. She couldn't stop smiling. I had never dated anyone in my twenty-one years. No one had caught my interest. I didn't want to die a virgin though.

Ah, it has really been one heck of a day. I went to my room to sleep, closed my eyes, and was ready to sleep right after after I turned off the bedroom light, I suddenly heard my window being forced open. I froze, didn't move. The intruder entered my room and walked gently towards where I was sleeping. I was in a cold sweat, praying. What Lisa had said came to mind. Oh God, am I going to die? The intruder touched my hair and smelled it. I didn't open my eyes, even though I was trembling. Then I heard a voice as calm as the night, "I know you're not sleeping, mate."
