Chapter 43 The Abyss Beckons (Floor 35)

[System Notification: Floor 35 - The Abyss Beckons.]

The moment Elias and Althea stepped onto

Floor 35, the ground beneath them shifted.

Unlike the previous floors, this one was completely silent. No wind, no echoes, nothing but an eerie void stretching before them.

A narrow stone bridge extended into the darkness, vanishing into the shadows. Below it-nothing. Just an endless abyss.

Althea took a cautious step forward. "A bridge?"

Elias frowned. "More like a death trap."

The oppressive darkness around them felt alive, coiling and shifting just beyond the edges of their vision. Something was watching them.

A whisper.

Elias snapped his head to the side. Nothing.

Then-

A hand shot out from the abyss.

He barely had time to react before inky-black claws scraped against his arm. He jumped back, summoning a burst of Elemental Fury to blast the creature away.

The darkness below them stirred.

More hands. More figures.

Shadowy wraiths began crawling up the sides of the bridge, their bodies shifting between solid and intangible. Their hollow eyes locked onto Elias and Althea.

"They're coming."

Althea didn't hesitate. She swung her sword, the blade slicing through one of the wraiths-but instead of dying, it split into two.

Her eyes widened. "Killing them makes more of them?!"

Elias scowled. "Then we don't fight. We move."

They ran.

The bridge was longer than it looked. Every step forward, the darkness fought to drag them back.

A shadowy tendril lashed out, wrapping around Elias' ankle. He gritted his teeth and unleashed Primal Roar, shattering it with pure force.

Althea vaulted over an incoming wraith, slashing at the bridge itself to disrupt their advance.

But the abyss was endless.

And then-

The bridge began to collapse.

The stones behind them crumbled, falling into the void.

"Go! Move faster!" Elias shouted.

They sprinted as the bridge disintegrated beneath their feet.

The exit was near-a massive stone doorway standing alone in the void.

Althea reached it first, spinning around just in time to see Elias leap forward-

CRACK.

The last section of the bridge collapsed.

Elias was falling.

Althea's eyes widened. "ELIAS!"

Without thinking, she lunged, grabbing his wrist at the last second.

But the darkness below pulled harder.

Shadowy hands grasped Elias' legs, trying to drag him down.

Elias gritted his teeth.

No. Not like this.

Electricity surged around him. With a furious roar, he unleashed Divine Judgment-

A massive bolt of lightning exploded downward, shattering the abyss.

The wraiths screamed as they disintegrated, the sheer force of the attack tearing through the void.

With one last push, Elias grabbed the edge of the doorway, pulling himself up.

Althea collapsed beside him, panting. "That was too close."

Elias exhaled, glancing back at the abyss. It was already reforming, the darkness closing in as if nothing had happened.

This floor wasn't meant to be fought.

It was meant to swallow those who hesitated.

[System Notification: Floor 35 Cleared.]

As the stone door creaked open, revealing the next challenge, Elias pushed himself up.

"Let's keep moving."
