As Elias and Althea stepped onto Floor 38, a suffocating chill settled over them. The shadows no longer just clung to the walls-they moved like living things, reaching out with whispering tendrils. The air felt heavy, charged with an eerie presence that made even breathing feel unnatural.
[System Notification: You have entered Floor 38 Wraiths of the Abyss.] [Warning: Souls of the fallen roam this floor. They cannot be harmed by conventional means.]
Elias frowned, glancing at Althea. "They can't be harmed? That's a problem."
Before she could answer, wispy figures emerged from the walls, their hollow eyes glowing with a haunting blue light. Their distorted forms hovered, drifting toward them without a sound.
Elias instinctively raised his hand, preparing an Elemental Fury attack, but hesitated. Normal attacks wouldn't work.
That's when he remembered-Nythra's power.
He exhaled slowly and focused. The moment he did, a deep, eerie energy stirred within him. His fingertips tingled as he activated Soul Eater.
Dark energy pulsed through his body.
The first wraith lunged. Instead of dodging, Elias let it phase through him. The moment their essences connected, the wraith let out a piercing scream. Its form began unraveling, spiraling into Elias' body like mist drawn into a vortex.
[Soul Eater Activated - Absorbing Spirit Energy.]
His eyes flickered with ghostly blue light. A surge of power coursed through him as the wraith dissolved completely.
Althea slashed at another wraith, but her blade passed through harmlessly. "Elias! It's not working!"
"Let me handle this."
Elias stepped forward, summoning Grim Requiem. A swirling storm of necrotic energy erupted around him, dragging the wraiths into its deadly grasp. Their howls echoed as their bodies faded into oblivion, their energy consumed.
Althea watched in silent awe as the last wraith was reduced to nothing. Elias stood there, his body still glowing with traces of the absorbed spirits.
[System Notification: Trial Conquered -Wraiths of the Abyss.] [Proceed to Floor 39.]
Elias flexed his fingers, feeling the lingering energy of the consumed souls. "Nythra's power really is something else."
Althea crossed her arms. "Let's just hope it doesn't consume you in return."
Elias smirked. "I can handle it."
With the path now clear, they moved forward toward the next floor-the final challenge before the boss.
