Chapter 10: A Kiss From Teacher?

Why did I even get a quest about Echidna? Is she hiding something, no. No. No. Lucas, she's fine. She's normal, she's good, she's... she's.... she's.... she's.... she's...

'The device is rather strange, It allowed me to see the (Why did I get a ##### about Echidna? Is she hiding something) part before I had to step in to remove those pesky thoughts from my student. Obviously, the device is scheming who knows what against poor Lucas...' I thought. I started to grin as I called forth my servant.

"Rachnee, Come forth." I said while looking towards the white spider plushie that turned into my servant.

"My lady, how may I help you?" She said while she started to drool a bit while she looked at her lady before she wiped it away with her sleeve. She then looked towards the frozen boy who was still sitting on the edge of his bed.

"Describe all the actions my student did while in the house from your view on his birthday till now." I asked while already knowing the answer, but wanted to hear them from her perspective.

My servant went on and on about many mundane tests about an invisible object she couldn't observe. She also talked about her student's sudden surprise at seemingly nothing while inside his room earlier that day.

My servant only further served to confirm my hypotheses on what I was dealing with the sudden gap in the timeline with its cause.

'With my servant's report backing up my findings, I have determined that what he has is without a doubt a system of some kind. Despite my student's best efforts, his sloppy attempts at covering it up left much to be desired.

Presumably, it functions by only hiding memories within the user's mind, not filtering what leaves it out of its own volition. That could be a rather exploitable vulnerability to its protection system. It would have been a vulnerability if it cared about its users.

Every so-called system protection was so sloppy you would think it was a last-minute feature thrown out there before handing over the system. Unlike the systems I know of, the rules and protections for its users are nonexistent for this system.' I thought with a confused frown at this sudden discovery. My frown didn't last long before it turned upside down as I looked toward my servant for one last confirmation.

"Rachnee, try to read his memories and tell me what you see." I asked, trying to confirm if the protection was based on power.

"My lady, I can't read most of the memories in his mind that happened today. I can read his past memories as clear as day with a bit of a struggle, but most of the things he did on his birthday were clouded." My servant said while confirming the power behind this, seemed to scale to who was looking and who wasn't.

'So the True Multiverse is real. Lucas, you keep showing me more AND MORE INTERESTING THINGS I NEED TO KNOW MORE!!!!' I thought while my smile reached my ears.

. . .

What was I doing again? I felt like I was off, but I didn't know what was odd to me. It was a strange feeling to know something was very wrong. But not even know where to begin my search.

Don't think about it too much, Lucas.

Ya, I'm right. I shouldn't think too much about that.

I'll just go downstairs to see if Dean and Sam are alright, I've been gone a bit too long at this point.

. . .

"Teacher, why is Sammy here too?" I asked while my teacher had my brother sitting on the side watching us.

"Your father may have forbidden us from showing him the other side of our lives. But I would think a father would like his son to know a little bit of martial arts at any age for some level of self-protection." My teacher said while my brother started clapping out of nowhere like he was having fun.

"Luc Luc, will I train train with big brottaer too?" Sammy asked as I looked away in shame at him; he was still calling the teacher that nickname.

"Yes, remember Sam, today you'll only watch us as we train, but I'll show you how to train yourself tomorrow." My teacher replied as he showed my little brother a kind smile. Well..., it was kinder than any smile I've seen him show me while training me.

I was still thinking before my teacher's smug smile grew wider as a blue aura only I could see surrounded him as he rushed me out of nowhere.

My arms swung the wooden sword in my hand in pure reflex to parry the attack, but my teacher wasn't the type to go down without a fight. His sword defied my understanding as it twisted and turned to dodge my sword as it went past my defenses to hit my right shoulder in a single move.

I jumped back as my teacher gave me some time to process what just happened as my right shoulder was badly bruised by his last attack.

"Do you know what kind of sword this was, disciple?" My teacher asked while his sword started shifting constantly in the air like a flying snake with its blade segmenting into multiple pieces to form a bladed whip instead of any sword I've ever seen before.

"Cheater..." I replied with a low growl.

"Wrong answer, It's called the whip sword, as you might be able to infer this blade is a little unordinary compared to normal blades. I made this wooden blade myself some time ago, I'm happy my student was the first to experience its greatness." My teacher said while he started to laugh at me holding my shoulder like the asshole in human form he had always been while training.

'Why does he have to embarrass me in front of Sammy... He's always cheating, can't he fight fair and square just this once?' I said while I sighed before I shook the pain away and I got back into a fighting position.

"THAT'S THE SPIRIT KID!" My master yelled as he got a little serious, but held back on doing anything too explosive in front of my little brother.

. . .

I looked at the setting sun before forcing my bruised and battered student to carry his sleeping brother to their bedroom. He tried to respond, but a simple chop to the head stopped his response.

"Get your butt to bed Dean, and keep quiet alright your little brother is sleeping in your arms for god sake." I said in a low voice as my magic hand soundlessly opened the door to let them inside.

I closed the door before I went back upstairs to privately check out the chat and see what had happened while I was gone.

'I wonder if we have any new members.' I thought while I closed my bedroom door before activating my self-made defenses to the room.

The chat is going crazy, and scumbag hasn't even completed his only quest, I thought before laughing a little while on my bed. I paused before remembering the dude saying it was a timed quest, unlike the quests on the first page of the system.

None of those quests even looked to be beginner quests. How the hell was I going to slay a dragon with my current strength anyway, that might as well be a death trap or something. Who the hell were those other things mentioned in the quest?

I guess I have a long day cut out for me. (Rabit Ghoul) said you can generate quests if the system didn't give you any by wandering around or taking jobs/tasks from other people. I probably need to do a few of those before I can even complete a few quests at my level since almost all of these quests I was given on the first page were impossible for the current me. All nine of them were something I couldn't complete on my own.

Was it nine quests or ten?

A quest is missing. No, it is missing from my view...

Nothing is wrong with the system, it's not me.

It is me, what is wrong!

No, it's not Lucas, EVERYTHING IS FINE STOP STRUGGLING!

It's only nine hard quests on the first page.

Yes, only nine ######, not ten.

I held my head as my world started spinning, I felt like something was putting pressure on the inside of my skull. I. I. I am fine.

"NO, I'M NOT GET OUT OF MY HEAD AWWWWWW!" I started to scream as I summoned Aurora Dawn into my hand, and used the remaining juice left in the axe to attack whatever was targeting me inside my room.

"DIE!" I screamed while struggling against the invisible foe.

Flames, my room was filled with smoke & golden flames. My clothes were covered in golden flames as I was pushing out all my mana in a massive surge to empower my Aurora even further to produce more flames.

I had no target, so everything before my eyes became my target. My books. My computer. My bed. My entire bedroom was a target.

I KNEW IT WAS SOMEWHERE IN HERE!

. . .

All I saw was the fire of my beloved axe as I started to wildly swing my axe around my room, destroying everything before me as I struggled to kill the spider plushie that turned into a white spider monster.

The crafty spider kept dodging my attacks as it refused to attack me for some reason, but none of my attacks ever landed with the raging headage I was feeling.

Before I could finally land a hit on the bastard I saw her.

My teacher appeared before my eyes as she kissed my forehead.

. . .

I started to yawn as I started to look toward the white spider plushie next to Alien X. I don't know why, but I felt a sudden dislike for that plushie, but it was a gift from my teacher so I loved it as well at the same time. I disliked it, and I loved it as well.

'Why am I feeling such a contradicting feeling towards a simple gift my teacher gave me?' I thought about it, but I stopped as I felt it was a waste of time.

I felt it was time to use my gacha ticket after reading what Donkey said about his choices with everyone seemingly agreeing the prizes they got were all useful.
