My Hair
She shot an arrow at me which went past my hair breaking the rope I used to tie my hair. My hair released and flowed down my back revealing it normal length.
"Wow her hair is so beautiful and long" I heard them muttering.
"You have to do something with your hair Elena, you can't steal with that" Liam said.
"Although it is beautiful but you have to cut it" he added.
I touched a few strands of my hair and thought about how it feel to cut it.
"There is no need telling her, I will cut it for her" Pip said and advanced to me with a small knife.
She came close to me and took a strand of my hair and wanted to cut it, in swift motion she was on the ground with me on top of her and the knife placed at her neck.
"Elena stop !" Liam ordered.
I stood up and told him "my hair will remain as it is, if you don't like it I will be leaving".
"Stay ! Stay ! Stay !" the people started chanting.
Pip stood up from the ground and shouted to the people "how can you be supporting her to stay, someone that almost killed me".
"She did the right thing, Pip how can you want to cut her when she hasn't decided. And Leader has not given order, you disrespected our Leader" one of the men said to her.
"What do you know about respect, Ace ?" she challenged.
"Enough ! both of you" Liam ordered.
"Elena is not cutting her hair and she is not going anywhere expect it is her choice to go" he said.
"Yes that is good leader" they all exclaimed.
"How can you people like someone as rude and arrogant as her ?" Pip asked.
"She has a brain and you don't" Mary said and everybody burst into laughter including Liam.
Pip stormed out of the place and entered one of the huts slamming the door behind her.
"Don't worry that's how she behaves" Liam said.
"I am not worried at all" I said.
"OK then let me introduce you to my main crew" he said.
"OK" I replied as I followed him to where a group of girls and boys were eating and drinking.
"Guys I want to introduce to you Elena our new temporary member" he said.
"Hi Elena" they said and started introducing themselves one after the other.
"We are fifteen in number including me and of course Pip" Liam said.
"She is one of your main crew ?" I asked.
"Yes, believe me when I tell you that she is very good with arrow" he boasted.
"Whatever, who doesn't know how to shoot arrows" I said.
"Are you hungry ?" he asked.
"Yes" I replied.
"Sit let me get you something to eat" he said and left. I sat down with the group and waited for him, he came back with a wooden plate filled with a simple but nice smelling porridge.
"I know it is not what you eat back home but it is good" Liam said.
"It is fine, thank you" I said.
I took the first spoon of the porridge and I must confess it is the sweetest porridge I have ever tasted.
"How is it ?" he asked with anticipation.
"Not bad" I replied.
"Oh" he said with disappointment.
"Why are you not going back to your family ?" a guy called Alex asked me.
"It is a long story" I replied.
"We love long stories so out of it" he said.
"I don't want to talk about it" I said.
"Here we share stories with each others, no matter how embarrassing and painful it is, that how we heal from emotional pains" Alex said.
"Betrayed by a friend and kidnapped, are we going to call it emotional pain" I thought in my mind.
"Sorry but mine is quite complicated, let's leave it for another time" I said.
"No today or never, it is our tradition" he maintained.
"What tradition ?" I asked.
"A new member must tell us about his or he life and family" he replied.
I started telling them a fake story about my parents.
"My mother died when I was fourteen and my father took another wife" I began the fake story about my parents.
"Unfortunately, my father also passed away when my stepmother was pregnant with her first child. I was kidnapped by bandits to collect money from my stepmother but basically the old witch didnt care if I die or live.
I escaped and meet those people that were looking for me now, I insulted them and they got angry and wanted to hurt me but I escaped" I finished.
"So you are now hiding because of two group of people" Alex asked.
"Exactly" I replied.
They started discussing about their stealing job and I was just listening.
"Where are you from ?" one of the girl asked.
"Bradon" I replied.
"I have always wanted to go to that kingdom" she said.
"You should definitely go, it is a blissful kingdom" I said.
"Talking about kingdoms, please which kingdom is this ?" I asked.
"Urita" the girl replied.
"The peaceful kingdom" I said.
"Yes that's us" she replied.
After we have finished eating Liam took me to s hut which was decorated with flowers.
"Hope you like it ?" he asked.
"Do I have a choice" I replied.
He laughed and said "you really have a sharp mouth".
"Settle down, I will bring fresh clothes and blanket for you with a warm bath" he promised.
"OK" I said.
He went out of the hut and came back with some clean clothes and blankets. Two guys brought a moveable bath tub filled with warm water.
"Please bear with us, this what we could afford" Liam said.
"It is okay, as long as the water doesn't infect me, I am good with it. So can you please excuse me I am dying to take a bath" I said.
"OK" he said and went out of the hut with the other two guys.
I undressed and went inside the tub, I scrubbed my body thoroughly and came out of the tub.
I dressed in the clean clothes and laid on the bed, I thought about my parents, how would they be doing now without knowing if I was dead or alive.
