The sun was already setting when we left the elven forest behind. As the surroundings grew darker, I began to have the illusion that the surrounding forest was narrowing.
First, we have to find a safe place to spend the night.
Lauren, the Arachne, seemed to have hidden somewhere and was unharmed from the fight. Now, the limping Piyo is resting on her back.
As for me, the wound on my shoulder has not yet clotted and continues to bleed. Perhaps that's why I haven't been feeling well for some time and I'm gradually losing strength in my legs.
"Hey, Hiroaki, are you okay?"
Pauline looked at me with her dark, anxious eyes.
"No, I'm fine. Just support Nina."
"Don't make fun of me! There's nothing wrong with me!"
I heard Nina's loud voice coming from the front.
"I apologize to everyone, I was the one who suggested we go through the forest..."
It was all my fault, to begin with. If I had listened to the advice of the satyr I met in the city before, this would not have happened. Not only would I not be a burden to everyone, but we would also not be putting our lives at risk.
While I was thinking about this, Sharin, who was standing next to me, gave me a sidelong glance.
"Stop it Alicegawa, this is useless. No one is to blame for this situation."
Except that when I was about to refute her, Filiana interrupted me.
"Yes, they could have helped us. But they weren't the kind of people we imagined."
I said nothing more.
While this was happening, the sun was setting. I need to find a place to rest before night falls.
Thinking about this, I look around and all I see are dense trees.
Suddenly, I spotted an animal lying in a depression in the ground. Looking closer, it appears to be a lioness with wings sprouting from her back. It seemed to have been attacked by something, as its beautiful white feathers were covered in dirt and crumpled.
The animal moves its shoulders and seems to breathe softly. I left the group and went to check on the animal.
I knew it wasn't the time for this, but I couldn't abandon that poor animal.
Its body fits perfectly into a cavity in the ground. I leaned forward and observed the whole body of the strange creature.
It had disheveled fur stained with dust, white wings and, on top of its head, the face of a woman with long hair.
