Ayaan walked into the station.
The DSP and the remaining four officers were still reeling in the shock.
"I am the representative of the Intelligence department. I want all five of you to not resist and come with me. If you resist, I will use force and I will not be held liable for any damage that will be done.
And while you are at it, say your goodbyes, once you leave that door, you won't be seeing a hint of daylight ever again."
That is all he said directly.
The DSP looked at Ayaan in shock. Ever since Ayaan made that threat before, he was on pins and needles. He knew things would come and bite him in the back, in fact he was supposed to be in suspension right now.
However, the IGP who got pissed by Ayaan's attitude, made him stay in the station. Since he is the one who calls the shots within the city, he managed to make this little ego play.
But still, the DSP did have a bad feeling, which only slowly waned in the last couple of days. Now that he saw the message and Ayaan as well….on top of that, this new threat, he felt scared.
Ayaan's cold gaze locked on to him. As if he was looking at a dead man. There was something in that predatory glance that made the DSP and the other five officers scared for their lives and they made a wrong move.
They took out their guns.
At that moment, Ayaan closed the distance, he stood in front of the DSP and held his arm that held the pistol.
The gun didn't even have the chance to come out of the holster.
*BANG*
The gun misfired and shot the officer in his thigh. Ayaan then snapped the arm at the elbow. The DSP let go of the gun, and Ayaan took it out.
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* * BANG* *BANG*
He shot all five of them.
Five notifications rang.
[Exp+10]
The remaining officers looked at him in shock. Everything happened in a flash. From catching the DSP off-guard to shooting everyone down it happened within two seconds.
Ayaan took the gun away, without even speaking. He went to the office of the superintendent of Police. The next one up in the hierarchy and then he had more places to visit. The office of the police commissioner and then the IGP.
.
.
.
One hour later.
Ayaan held the gun and came out of the commissioner's office. The SP office went as he expected, but the Commissioner got the information and disappeared.
He called Raj.
"Where is he?"
"Tracked him. He is at the IGP's home. So was the IGP and his son."
"Okay."
Ayaan got on the bike and rode towards IGP's house at full speed.
At the same time, at the IGP's house.
IGP Williams is beyond himself. There was no arrogance or the poise that he usually carried himself with.
He was in the middle of a call as he pulled his hair.
"Sir, what do you mean you cannot help me? This is ridiculous. I am an Inspector general of police. What right does the intelligence department have to arrest me and suspend me without so much as a courtesy?
There was no way that this could have happened without your consent. You cannot do this to me."
A faint sigh was heard from the other side.
"Williams, listen to what I am about to say to you is purely out of the personal relationship that we have over these years.
I see you as a friend and this is the final favor that I could afford you.
But before that. Tell me. What happened a week before the New Year's? I checked and found out that you expedited an accident case. What exactly happened with it?"
IGP froze.
"I…I…"
"Don't try to cook up a story. Whatever is happening right now, is related to that. That is all I could get with my connections in the Intelligence department. You have pissed off someone who is way above your league and you are paying the consequences for it.
My suggestion.. surrender without any resistance."
The DGP cut the call.
Williams collapsed into the chair. Despair gripped his heart and then a light bulb went off in his head.
He ransacked through the table drawer in his study.
He took out an old mobile phone and hit the digits like he wanted to poke holes into it.
After a few rings, the call went through.
"Arhan. Help me. You need to help me. I need to get out of this place. I am being targeted because of the incident. Please get me and the family out of the country."
The voice on the other end of the phone didn't share the same urgency. He was very well calm and connected.
"Williams? What is it that I told you when I gave this phone to you? It was never ever for you to make a call. It was for you to receive them. Then why am I speaking to you, right now?"
"Ar…"
"And I do know about your predicament. So, I suggest you to say your prayers. Knowingly or unknowingly, we poked at a beast this time. I hope you can take the brunt and save me and my boss from the trouble."
"You.. You are cutting me off? After everything I have done for you? Your boss is the one who made this mess. He created this.
Now you are cutting me off?"
"Come on, Williams. You know why you helped us. My boss is not the only creator of this mess. Did you really ask your childhood doctor friend just as a favor for me? You have just as much stake in this as we do.
Now, before you go, help out the others involved in this keeping your mouth shut. Even if you do blab about me and my boss, there won't be much impact, but the others will die like dogs in his hands. So, if you have any shred of loyalty left, don't be a snitch.
Or be one and just blow this whole thing up. I don't fucking care."
Arhan cut the call.
"ARHHAAAAAAN"
IGP screamed at the top of his lungs. At the same time on the other side of the phone. Arhaan… a man in his late thirties is sitting in a meeting room, across from a young man in his twenties.
"Mr. John. Just like you said, they are coming for him. But I wonder if we are actually safe like this. If Williams and the others involved are captured, isn't there a chance that I will be out? I am the one who mediated this deal after all.
How can we wrap this up cleanly?"
John was currently holding a steel dagger in his hands. He looked at his handsome reflection on the knife blade as he adjusted his hair.
He smiled at Arhaan when he asked that question and…
*SWOOSH*
The dagger flew out of his hands and lodged into the head of Arhaan, killing him off.
"See Arhan, it is that easy. Use you as the common point and then kill you off without anyone knowing. That is all I have to do to tie up the loose ends."
John said with a smile and clapped his hands. A man in a suit walked in and took the body away. Another man came in and passed a document to John.
"Sir, we identified some suspicious activity in one of the bases of our jurisdiction."
John took the document and frowned.
"Missing weapons? RPGs? Rocket Launchers? Mines and Grenades? Even C4 from the evidence?" John who could burn a family alive without so much as a flinch is shocked.
"Who the fuck took these away? And what are they doing with it?"
"We don't know, sir. But they are missing from the base's armory. We don't have any evidence. I contacted our local weapon dealer connections, no new weapons were circulating in the market."
"How many times, did this happen?"
"Two, sir. The first time it was just some ordinary guns and ammo along with a couple of grenades. It was almost unnoticeable at that time. But the latest one happened yesterday and they took most of the weapons, almost all explosives.
There are just too many suspects."
"Well, then. We need to narrow it down and see who has dipped their naughty hands into the armory. Let's hope that there are a bunch of people. We lost the Black dog, so we have a big void to fill in. Despite its failure, the Black Dog proved that the ex-soldiers bring some unique results."
"Yes, sir."
The man was about to leave. But John stopped him and asked.
"That guy… Rakshit. Try to drown him in some noise. Since he even went as far as issuing a black order to deal with our minions, we can also use the same rules to fight back."
"I am already on it, sir. Soon he would be called for questioning by the relevant people. Our ministers in the central cabinet and the state government of Nandhara will be making the required noise. If that doesn't work, I have other means as well."
"Good. What would I do without you?"
The man left, while John slumped back into his chair and closed his eyes.
Meanwhile back in IGP's house.
Ayaan arrived at the mansion's gate. There are dozens of police officers standing outside with guns for security.
As soon as Ayaan got off, they all became vigilant, their hands placed on their holsters.
"I am the intelligence department's representative. I am here to take IGP Williams and the Police Commissioner into custody. I want you to cooperate with me right now, or you will also be subjected to the same punishment for aiding the wanted criminal."
The officers were stunned. They did remember the message. They also got it. But the IGP has convinced them to ignore it and protect him. He said while they stop the intelligence department, he will clear this situation.
So, the officers agreed.
Of course, the only convincing they needed was the bribes they took before. Now they are aiding this IGP to ensure they won't fall.
But they didn't want to piss off the intelligence department as well.
One of the officers stepped up and said.
"Sir, I understand the situation. But an officer to officer, please do me a favor and wait for a while. I will ask the IGP to talk to you.
He said this was a misunderstanding and is talking to our DGP. It will all be settled soon, so just wait for a mo…ARGHHH"
Ayaan didn't even let him finish his words. His fist flew and hit his squarely on the jaw.
He felt the jaw bone crack on his knuckles and the officer's body was thrown away like a rag doll with just one punch.
The officer didn't move. Blood seeped out of my ears. The other officers were stunned. They couldn't comprehend how one punch could create such damage.
"Whether you cooperate or not, I will be standing in front of that IGP in the next five minutes. So, you decide."
Ayaan walked forward.
.
.
.
Five minutes later.
Inside IGP's study. He is sitting on his chair, with his eyes devoid of any vigor and hope. They are glued to the monitor in front of him, which gives the full display of what's happening outside.
He watched everything.
How the officers registered, how Ayaan dealt with them, and how he walked into his home as if he owned it.
"Dad, is there no other way?"
IGP looked at his son who spoke. His son, much like Ayaan is in his mid-twenties and is sitting across the table. He couldn't even look his father in the eye as he spoke. He was twiddling his thumbs in nervousness.
At that moment.
*SNAP* *CRACK*
The door of the study that was locked, opened up. The door broke off at the hinges as Ayaan pulled it forcefully by the door knob.
He didn't even have to use much strength, a casual pull, made the door come off. He threw it to the side and stepped in.
IGP and his son looked at Ayaan, finally, those lifeless eyes were gripped with horror. Even more, when saw what Ayaan was holding in his hand. It was neither a gun nor another weapon.
It was something they were extremely familiar with.
*WOOF*
