Chapter 6

"Doctor, has Jaxon come by to ask about my recovery?"

The doctor waved his hand dismissively.

"No, no, come to think of it, I haven't seen that young man in five days."

"It's been since that day we talked, and I bandaged his hands. He hasn't been back since. When he woke up then, his mood seemed off."

"That's understandable... After all, he'll never be able to paint again... Ah, what a shame..."

Sakura stumbled, suddenly lifting her head.

"What do you mean he can't paint anymore?!"

The doctor gave her a strange look.

"You don't know? Right after you finished talking to me and left that day, someone found him collapsed in the hallway and brought him in. His fingers had been crushed by someone, resulting in comminuted fractures. He'll never be able to paint again, let alone lift anything heavy..."

The doctor hadn't finished speaking.

Sakura's heart clenched, her legs weakening, nearly sliding to the floor.

Her eyes reddened, losing all reason.
