Chapter 1

In the seventh year of my relationship with Sakura, she accidentally slipped in the bathroom, forgetting everything except her childhood sweetheart, Zoran.

She said she only loved Zoran.

On the eve of the competition, she had someone kidnap me and injure my hands so I couldn't compete.

"Who do you think you are to compete with Brother Zoran?"

Until I accidentally overheard her conversation with the doctor.

"Miss Everhart, if Jaxon finds out you had me switch his hand injury medication for epilepsy drugs, he might... Plus, you've been faking amnesia for a while now. Jaxon comes every day to ask about your recovery, and I'm starting to feel really guilty..."

Sakura's voice was ice-cold.

"It's just ruining his hands, not taking his life. What, is he going to kill himself just because he can't paint anymore?"

"I promised Brother Zoran I'd stay with him until he gets better. Jaxon won't find out. Once Zoran's wishes are fulfilled and he's no longer suicidal, I'll naturally regain my memory."

"Just come up with another excuse to brush off Jaxon!"

...

I knocked on the door, my movement suddenly freezing as a dense, stinging pain radiated from my heart.

Lately, my hands have been shaking uncontrollably. I thought it was because I hadn't fully recovered, but it turns out Sakura had been drugging me!

My fingers twitched incessantly, and it felt like bugs were gnawing at the blood beneath my palms, a heart-wrenching pain.

Sakura emerged from the examination room. Afraid of bumping into her, I stepped aside, only for the door to knock me over.

I fell to the ground in a heap, unable to hold back the tears welling up in my eyes.

Sakura disdainfully kicked my wheelchair further away, her face twisted with disgust.

"I've told you already, Zoran is my boyfriend! Stop being so shameless, following me around like a dog every day. Aren't you tired of it?"

"I've forgotten everything from before! Stop pestering me!"

I was about to speak when Zoran strode over from the other end of the hallway, wrapping his arm around Sakura's shoulders and planting a kiss on her. Sakura didn't pull away.

Zoran's foot secretly stepped on my fingers, grinding them deliberately.

"Sakura, I've been waiting for you for so long. Did he hold you up again?"

In pain, I instinctively cried out, "Move! You're stepping on me!"

Zoran seemed startled by my voice and quickly coughed a few times to cover it up."Excuse me... I'm sorry... Should I not have come?"

Sakura's face darkened as she glared at me with hostility.

"Why are you pretending? There's no way Zoran could have stepped on you from that far away!"

I tried to explain myself.

"No, it's not that. When he was walking over just now..."

Sakura waved her hand, cutting me off mid-sentence. Her tone was laced with anger.

"Jaxon! You clearly scared Zoran. You knew he had a heart condition, yet you deliberately yelled to frighten him!"

"You really like painting, don't you?"

Sakura stomped her high heel directly onto my hand.

The thin, sharp heel aimed squarely at my middle finger and ground down.

Sakura continued to threaten me.

"If you dare make a sound, I'll have someone destroy your art studio!"

The pain shot through my hand - they say the fingers are connected to the heart - and it felt like my bones were shattering. My vision went dark, and I started to lose consciousness.

The studio was the last thing my mother left me before she passed away. I couldn't let it be destroyed!

Thinking about how Sakura had tricked me into losing my memory for Zoran's sake, and how she'd had someone injure my hand, it felt like my heart was being sliced open, bleeding profusely.
